Both fights are similar mechanically, but they feel totally different. Minos gives you a lot of time to predict and dodge his attacks, but Sisyphus is just a nonstop barrage, especially during the second phase.
Overall my expectations were high, and the fight definitely lived up to them. P ranking P-1 made me a much better player, and I can already tell P-2 is going to do the same.
The best part of P-1 was the fact that Minos was just as fast and hard hitting as the player, but telegraphed his attacks so well that it was less of a brawl and more of a choreographed dance of death, with the two of us locked in deadly but beautiful combat
Now, Sisyphus prime feels much more of a “face to face beat down” which is most likely exactly what the devs were going for
A test of mettle and a test of metal, both sides whittling the other to the bone
While this is really cool from a lore and character standpoint
This really sucks in gameplay
Having an enemy that gives no breaks to reasonably analyze or predict a move set is not fun to fight
Minos’s slight pauses between moves allowed players to associate voice lines with attacks and retaliate correspondingly
After over 100 restarts on this boss I never got that feeling of learning, just dumb luck from dashing and pumping out as much damage as I could as quickly as I could, both tactics that are applicable to average levels, but not the grand spectacles of the P bosses
This just, didn’t feel like a real P level overall
Also we got ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ROBBED with the Flesh panopticon
The “don’t let it see you” was such ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and could have been a really fun alternative to the fresh prison
But nooooo
“Here’s a barebones flesh prison that dies after thirty seconds to show how awesome the P-2 boss is”
Maybe if Sisyphus didn’t leave such a sour feeling afterwards I wouldn’t be as bothered over the FP but still, coulda been so cool…
