ULTRAKILL THEORY: V1 doesn't say "You're not getting away this time."
Farfetched idea, I know. It's intuitive to think that V1 is the one who'd be saying that, considering the whole survival philosophy and everything. It's reasonable to think that V1 just got frustrated into suddenly manifesting a linguistic thought, and, in that fit of rage, chased V2 down. There's no harm in thinking like this, as the alternative explanation I suppose isn't like I'm Einstein disproving Newtonian physics, but it's still a cool thought that's been floating in my head for a few months now.

The Terminals are saying "You're not getting away this time".

Think about it, the terminals have shown boredom, which is their main drive for doing everything that they've shown to do. To lure machines into a codependent relationship where machines are benefited in credits to buy weapons and custom skins and the terminals are benefited in... well, entertainment. It's thought that the entire style system is a byproduct of the terminals' influence, where V1 doesn't normally have such system, and it wouldn't make sense to either, considering V1 is a man-made machine for war. Such interaction would only serve to be a detriment to any army far in the future utilizing V1.

With all of this in mind, why would V1 even feel the need to think? The atrocities that V1 relentlessly and thoughtlessly commits have no semblance of empathy or regret following them. V1 is merely just a futuristic war-robot by our standards, and it makes no sense that souls would've been infused into machines, because, as mentioned with the style system, that it'd just serve to be a detriment for V1's sole purpose. (unless i'm proven wrong by an upcoming testament terminal, lol).

With everything in this post in mind, and with the help of a little bit of process of elimination, I've found that it's likely that the terminals brought that message to pop up onto the screen after beating 4-4 V2's first phase. The same dialogue style has only ever appeared in tutorial messages, which would only make sense for the terminals to do, to teach the machines how to fully utilize their arsenal to maximize the ability to style on their foes. The terminals were growing impatient with V2's constant cowardice in running away from the battle, growing to realize that V1 was the superior version among the two. So, to punish V2's insolence and fuel V1's drive to go on, the terminals spawned that message in, solidifying the fate of the two.

This is actually a really good theory

I personally think it's a survival instinct mixed with rational thought - "me dying = bad, more robots = less blood for me, less blood for me = i die sooner, less robots = more blood for me".
i likey this theory

Actually, if machines(terminals) dosen't have any soul, how can they feel boredom?

Who said that you need a soul to feel boredom?
