Play on lenient or turn off hard damage in accessibility settings.

Otherwise, just don't grapple in with low health or at least make sure you have an S rank so the hard damage decays fast.

imo, just saying that the problem couldve been dealt with by making enemies who are grappled provide no blood healing, rather than all this nonsense. thanks genuinely for the suggestion of turning down the difficulty but its something i dont really see as a fix for the situation (i know it is literally a fix but you get what i mean)

i never really noticed that the hard damage decays faster if you have a high style rank until i found out in a video of someone explaining the act II update

I'd use this mod
Yeesh, so many people whining about the Whiplash nerf, I feel like less people would be angry if Hakita literally just removed the bloody thing. lmao

Alot of people probably would as it literally punishes you for pressing a button unless you take NO damage (which is not how the game is meant to be played) to keep the style at ultrakill

Everyone who says "it literally punishes" as if it is NEVER worth using is exaggerating quite hard. People act like it fills your entire lost health bar with hard damage, but it only adds like 25% of the bar. If you are on low health its still perfectly effective to use it for healing, you just wont end up on full hp is all.

it CAN fill your entire lost health bar tho, depending on how long the grab lasts

Hmm, interesting. In my testing I couldn't figure out what caused a difference in how much hard damage you took. Ya learn something new every day. So uhh, I still think its fair tbh. It only adds about 25% hard damage as long as you don't use it cross map.

Hard damage you recieve is based off the grapple range I believe. You can't have hard damage that goes under your current health though, so if you have 90 health and then whiplash you will still be able to heal back up to 90 after the hook.

If you're a goof though and whiplash from a long range when you have 30 health you're obviously going to die if you try to kiss enemies. An S style rating will still make the hard damage decay faster though.

Mmm, I had to look up the style affecting hard damage. Didn't know that either. I guess the reason I didn't know any of this crap is because it never really affected my gameplay. I have ULTRAKILL style rank going like 90% of the time and unlike most people started up fresh saves every time I ran through the game again and thus, during the period before the whiplash nerf when you unlocked it at the very end and could only use it for like 3 seconds. I never really got used to crutching on it like what seems about half the community did while they went for late Cybergrind waves.
