According to what Hakita said in his developer commentary stream, it was a reference to the title of a song by the band Fields of the Nephilim, though I can't find any information about it (the song may be too obscure for a basic google search, or Hakita might have misremembered what band was responsible for it, since there are a bunch of songs with that title by various artists. Or maybe I'm just blind). The phrase itself is a quote from Macbeth.

I'd recommend the Bradbury book, it's one of his better ones. They also made a movie of "eh, it's fine" quality.

Originally it's from Shakespeare's "Macbeth." Macbeth, who is now a murderer, approaches the group of witches to learn about his destiny, and as he comes closer one of the witches says, "Something wicked this way comes." So, he is the wicked something, for being a killer. The quotation is widespread, even used as the title to a custom Quake map.

The book, Something Wicked this Way Comes by Ray Bradbury has a circus in it that collects their 'freaks' by punishing them for their actions, very similarly to Dante's Inferno, about the Circles (layers) of hell, in order they are: Limbo Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Anger, Heresy, Violence, etc... which well if you've played ULTRAKILL you know.
