Gabriel secret cheese method
Most people know that bosses in this game can be made a lot easier by using the homing nailgun and some juggling, but did you know Gabriel has a secret weakness?
---Red punch---

No, seriously. Not only can it help you line him up for the level's challenge, but it has one other important use: Gabriel's spear. When Gabriel does his slam(s), he follows it up with an explosive spear at point-blank. If you charge your punch right after his last slam, you'll make it explode as soon as it leaves his hand, dealing about 1/3rd of his health instantly. Not only that, but you're usually so close to him you get get 50ish% of your health back. Pair this with some dodging and your choice of gun, and you've got this in the bag, even on -Violent- difficulty.

No, seriously. Not only can it help you line him up for the level's challenge, but it has one other important use: Gabriel's spear. When Gabriel does his slam(s), he follows it up with an explosive spear at point-blank. If you time your punch correctly, you'll parry it, sending it back at him and dealing about 1/3rd of his health instantly. Not only that, parries give you tons if not full health back (even if the parried projectile misses all enemies somehow) Pair this with some dodging and your choice of gun, and you've got this in the bag, even on -Violent- difficulty.

This requires good timing AND positioning, so I wouldn't really call it cheese

The guy just wants to feel clever. His post can be reduced to "git gud."

I really love the boss fights in this game, especially Gabriel. I don't think I've ever played a shooter like this where timing matters so much and it really makes 1 on 1 showdowns with bosses feel much more enjoyable than just pumping them full of holes until they die. Of course there's still plenty of that but the simple fact you can parry certain attacks, have to dodge others with the dash mechanic and have to continuously slide around on the ground to go under or outrun other attacks is amazing fun. I would actually go as far as to say I enjoy the boss encounters in this game more than I do the arenas against other enemies which is pretty much the complete opposite to how I feel with every other shooter (not that the normal fights aren't still awesome).

I really hope other shooters move away from shooting a weak spot and instead take a more in depth approach to boss encounters like this game does.

I haven't fought the bosses again much because of my injured wrist, but what few retries of V2 I've done have shown it getting more and more enjoyable. The first run was nearly an hour of restarts, but just today I deleted V2 in under a minute! Gabriel was very tough the first run, I look forward to deleting him too.

No, seriously. Not only can it help you line him up for the level's challenge, but it has one other important use: Shoot him until he dies. As someone who P-ranked Gabriel on standard on my second play of the level with a tactic I can only refer to as "spastic shotgunning" for the most part, I'm guessing you fellas may or may not be thinking a lil too hard about this. :3

---Skill---

No, seriously. Not only can it help you line him up for the level's challenge, but it has one other important use: The boss fight itself. You'll find that you'll need skill to efficiently do well in every single encounter in the game, and this one is no different. Not only that, but you'll find that a large amount of skill will help you shoot him and recover health safely. Pair this with some dodging, and you've got this in the bag, even on -Violent- difficulty.

I hope this becomes a copypasta

umm, cheesed to meet you
I have no idea how this happened, but in a recent Gabe 2 run, I got him up to the ceiling and hit him with a charged slab piercer and for some reason that took out like 90% of his health. I think there might be a bug or something.
