The boss will relentlessly attack you for a bit, but then stops attacking for a few seconds to taunt. That's where he shouts at you. Use that time to run up close and heal with a shotty.

Other than that, it's quite easy if you are good with the coin flip pistol. Just prioritize dodging and running away and all you have to do is sometimes focus on hitting the coin instead of shooting at the boss. He actually doesn't have that much health, if you hit the coins anyway. I got it done in under 2:46 for my time and wasn't focusing on speed running (from start to end so the actual boss fight was under 2m. You can also hit him with the railgun drill alt to speed things up a bit.

Personally I actually found the giant boss more of a ball ache. I found healing off of his hands a bit buggy and I thought that you were meant to focus on his eyes to do significant damage. Turned out, you can just use the nail gun on his hands and kill him very fast.

Once you learn the attacks it's pretty easy to dodge em until his second phase where the homing orbs are a bit of an annoyance for something else to think about. But just focus on shooting the nail gun at his hand (you don't even need to bother homing because of its large hit box) and it dies very quick.

Nah you're probably not overthinking it to be fair. It's interesting how much weapon choice matters in fights, you can destroy them in seconds with the right gun. The nail gun is far less effective in the last boss so far for example, but the coin flip alt shreds him.

Green upgrade on the Railgun is pretty sweet for him as well, lets you focus more on dodging during those fights. Dont worry, Im also guilty of forgetting about the Nail Gun. I blame the devs for making the Shotguns so damn delicious to use :P :P :P
