for instace the cybger grind could have stages instead of one level ( i ahvent plyed cyber grind)
you could have some objetcitves to the randomness ....
like makea mode to replay with some objektives and random stages .
Also well designed levels are replayable. And adding an objective doesn't fix procedural generation, the problem with the random levels is they're never going to be as good as something made with purpose. This game has very clear reasons for the shape and contents of the combat arenas.
i mean you have some perfectly valid ideas and suggestions here that could be cool? but frame them as such. maybe it's because of your english but it appears as though you have come in here making demands and have no concept of how developing a (game) product works and the different kinds of costs and risks involved. when you say things like "why not just do this?" "why can't we have both?" you come across as being very young and naive and not having had to deal with what we would call 'the real world' yet.
have you never had to make a decision between buying a new game or being able to pay for rent or buy food or put fuel in your car? have you never had to stop playing a game early so you could get enough sleep to be ready for work? have you never had to cancel a plan because you had some other responsibility that came up?
sorry if this has been a rude awakening for you brother ;) still i am somewhat jealous of you though, i remember when i didn't work, didn't study, my partner and the government supported me while i sat on my butt all day playing video games and posting crap on the internet. all good things must come to an end though, huh :)
Outside of some roguelites RGL are just a way for devs to get lazy.
That said I think it's better for devs to make the games as they enjoy them.
Games take time, money and effort, so if a dev doesn't enjoy what they do it's going to be miserable.
There are other fps games with RGL on steam you could check out instead but hey I do think this game is worth trying out.
A big plus with handcrafted level design is that the design is very deliberate and that you can be sure that each area you're going through is unique and also specifically designed for specific combat encounters or other challenges.
I also don't see the logic behind adding random level generation in a game that clearly isn't designed for that because it doesn't add anything.
That's why random level generation serves absolutely no purpose here.
Play Deep Space Galactic or Gunfire Reborn then
Mother Gunship is not far from what this does and i Have that already..
