Is this based off the mechanics for Uncharted Waters, New Horizons?

I played that game about 25-30 years ago, and this looks very similar. I was just a kid back then, but this immediately brought back memories.

Yes, but as someone who hasn't played any UW games, I can't say how faithfully it adheres to the mechanics from those games. It's a fantastic tactical RPG with sailing, exploration, and light trade mechanics. I highly recommend it.

As someone whos dumped lots of hours into UW: NH but not much into this one yet, It appears to be a mashup of UW: NH with a final fantasy tactics like battle system. but this game appears to have EVERY mechanic from New horizon. If youre a fan of both games then i highly recommend this. Someone even made a mod to make the sailing part of the game look like New Horizon.
