Do things ever disappear from static locations?
You know, if I decided to leave all of my unique one of a kind artifact weapons in some grove, would they all be accounted for when I come back 5 months later?

I just discovered that you can't establish private ports without a faction affiliation, and since that's off the table for my current playthrough - so is a legally owned house. So I'm looking for a place to squat, but I'm not sure if it's safe to stash my treasures in one such location.

You can leave stuff on the ground and it will not despawn. Even leftover loot from bodies will only remove the corpse and leave its gear in its place when reloading the map.

So go ahead, stash your stuff away.

'Preciate it. Now all that's left is to find an abandoned place that's worth calling at least a hideout, if not a home.

I prefer the grove that's just southeast of Port Otype; said port is roughly around 50 W, 50 S. It's in a pretty central location, and doesn't require any special exploration. It won't feel very "private" though, seeing as so many ships pass by the grove.

You might also consider the points of interest that are deeper southwest, directly south of Jasces. I think there were some abandoned buildings you could claim.

I decided to settle in the Storm Cove. I use the supply closet to store triggers and cumbersome crafting materials, use the northeast building to store unique/very rare items items (weapons/armor/accessories/fossils/plants), and use the southwest mess hall to store my unique food. I'm quite content with it.
