How do I salvage the shipwreck?

I've accepted a mission from the viceroy of Rumane to salvage a shipwreck, but I've sailed to the spot where I think it is three times, according to the map, and I don't see any shipwrecks or anything I can do. I haven't seen any shipwrecks anywhere else, either. Is there some prerequisite equipment I need?

Pretty sure you need to 'look' at the spot you want to salvage same as you would to examine an enemy or item. As a rule of thumb 'look' at everything, no matter how mundane--researchers fork over quite a tidy sum of gold for journal entries over the course of the game.

Let us know how that goes, I've never actually been able to find a shipwreck myself: the lack of a cardinal direction from the quest giver, not knowing if they're close to where you get the quest or halfway across the world and difficulty recognizing the scrap of sepia map they give you to go off defeated my attempts to try this for myself.

I find them all the time. You have to use the map and geographic markers to help. I printed out a map someone posted to help. It does not show up until you use the magnifier "look" to reveal it.

Are the shipwrecks near the guild that gave you the job? I've cancelled two jobs because I couldn't figure out where the wreck was, seemed like it could be anywhere.
