best main ship? for exploring and travelling?
currently have a cog...
and just tried buying a galleon and carrack and they are slow as a snail... really dont get the point of them , maybe as a second ship that appears when fighting but def. not as cargoship/trading/travelling...

so what is the best one for what i wanna do? something faster than cog and that can carry more trade items.
also whats the best when you're trying to board ships...?

Carracks are good for trade since they hold a lot of cargo.
You could try a sea slither which are pretty fast and can hold a decent amount of cargo (I think)
but good luck trying to get that with only a cog.
The fastest ships are galleys, but they hold a very tiny amount of cargo. So your best bet is just making a cog fleet or getting a carrack.

The best ship for boarding would be pretty much anything, though it's preferable that they are fast and strong. So you could get a pinnace, sea slither, galley or maybe even a galleon.

I had a bunch of Frigates and Brigantines in my game, they're fast and have decent cargo storage.

now i know why mine was slow :3, cause i didnt have it manned enough. fleet must be fully manned for full speed XD didnt know that.

I find Brigantines to be the best balanced ship. It has enough cargo space, decent speed and 3 cannon slots (I use Culverin, Swivel Gun and the Boarding tools personally) for a decent price.

There are other ships in the game that can do certain stuff better but the Brigantine is truly the Do-all ship.

Brigantines and Frigates are definitely the best all-purpose ships.

The problem with the Brigantine is that it costs a lot of gold for something that has barely more HP then a cog. If you buy one you *will* see it get sunk at some point. Best-case scenario is losing it in exchange for capturing something better

I'd like to vouch for the Xebec, it's really mobile, sturdier and can hold more than a brigantine for 2k more.

So what about Galleons? Aren't worth the money? I'm looking for something good aswell and don't care much about the price.

With that lack of speed the Galleon would probably spend most of its time collecting seagulls in the harbour. That said if you do manage to capture one you should put it to use to progress through the plot
