As I heard: The vibes are immaculate. This is a vibes based game. Other reviews mentioned time pressure. But, there is none. There is no punishment for going over the time limit.
Still, the movement is complete jank. Stairs don't work, walls are a suggestion and you randomly double jump.

There's some pretty glaring bugs:
- It is very easy to fall through the map, to the point where I accidentally did it in normal gameplay maybe 20 or so times in my playthrough. I honestly just found it funny every time.
- One achievement, "Speed runner", doesn't work on the current version of the game. This is a minor annoyance, unless you want to 100%.
- Many translucent objects (glasses, windows, certain creatures) are completely invisible, even though the object is there and you can bump into it. This is a moderate annoyance, considering taking photos of your surroundings is the entire gameplay loop here.

The last two can be fixed with an easy guide that walks you through downgrading the game's version, and I'd recommend new players immediately do that.

However, with that preface out of the way: I was blown away by this game. Umurangi Generation's narrative is something that needs to be played to fully experienced, it's poignant, thought-provoking, and always at least simmering in the background. The photography is fun, and pretty involved once you start unlocking new tools. I took some legitimately good shots! Having photography bounties is a brilliant way to force the player to explore the map in ways they probably wouldn't otherwise, all to the game's benefit. Please, play this if you can. Especially if those annoying little bugs get fixed and you don't have to mess around with files beforehand.

It's great, I wish dev would return to this and fix some stuff. Quite a lot of collision problems like invisible walls that are obviously not supposed to be there.

What I expected: Pokemon Snap + Jet Set Radio

What I got: Full Metal Jacket + Neon Genesis Evangelion

Umurangi Generation is my favorite game of all time. The story it tells is compelling, angering, hopeless, exactly like the reality that we are living through. I'm not sure I've seen any other art that fully captures that feeling. I'd recommend it to anyone.

this might be the jankiest game i've ever played, but i really can't help but love it.
and it might be so janky on purpose... if you got the Macro DLC, getting flung from objects + rollerskates just becomes a whole new feature.

VOTING DOESN'T WORK IF YOUR CHOICES ARE 2 SIDES OF THE SAME PROBLEM.

Awesome little game that forces you to really look at the world around you and piece together whats going on through environmental clues. Excellent music and art, easy recommendation

Holy hell you should play this game. Do you like photography? Play this game. Do you like pretty environments? Play this game. Do you like Cyberpunk at all? Play this game. Do you have 15 bucks? Play this game!

Sure it only takes about 3 hours to beat if you go too fast like I do, but there is a lot you can go back and photograph if you wish.

Take pictures as humanity spasms in it's closing moments. Firstly, excellent soundtrack that really sinks into your pores and evokes this feeling of being in this fugue of resignation, hope, and sadness. The game has a lot of care in it's environments as that's what you're going to be combing through to find your shots, but in search of these shots you start to understand the small struggles of those who live there. It's a rather small game all in all, but it's well worth your time. If you're a creative sort you can go back in free mode for whatever photos you like. small note too, If you like The End of Evangelion, i think you will like this game.
Great game for cool people with weird vibes
