Most of the recent negative reviews are from people who can't play the game due to anti-cheat, EA account bugs, and various crashes.
Get Xwing alliance
Then use the XWAU mod
https://www.xwaupgrade.com/
There is a new version out by the looks,
I am gonna crack into that.
Squadrons was more like Rebel Assault in a free roam environment.
The old Xwing games the enemies were fewer in number and much harder to kill so felt like meaningful dogfights with good pay offs.
Having the game work on 2 computers of your own is not the same sample size of all the different hardware and driver configurations out out.
I am surprised that I had to tell you the above.
So now we're both surprised.
However, not finding the game enjoyable doesnt mean the game is bad. And this its a space combat game, so you got exactly what it is meant to be. In that sense, I agree with the original post here as I find quite surprising so many bad reviews.
I never said it was bad at all.
I made a comparison as well as an additional choice from the same genre/universe.
I then poked holes in what you said as you launched in with 'people are dumb'
You might need to do some self reflection and introspection regarding how you conduct yourself.
If someone likes it another person can not take that away,
If someone has technical difficulties but another person is able to play the game without issue, that does not make the person with technical issues dumb, it just makes the person making such a statement appear that way.
X-Wing Alliance = 53 missions [all as long as each of the missions in Squadrons + Deathstar 2 run at the end and much larger pool of ships to fly]
The visual quality was there for Squadrons,
There was more flight characteristics in Squadrons which made it bridge a gap between star wars flight games and Elite dangerous.
I still prefer the older Star Wars Flight games
Worst UI outside of flight in the history of gaming i.e. panning around a fixed location to interact with points of interest - just get rid of the panning and allow people to click on what they want to do like in the earlier games and wing commander etc. UI designed for a controller with useless mouse support. Quite honestly the worst mouse controlled flight model in existence despite previous xwing games having a great mouse system.
Very poor mission design and balance. Since when could you repair a tie-fighter while flying in a matter of seconds? Why do enemies come in nice waves that respawn each time you kill one? Why are the ships closely "balanced"?
Compare that to xwing/tie-fighter/xwing vs tie/xwing alliance. Vastly more missions with a progression system that makes sense i.e. y-wing -> a-wing/xwing -> b-wing etc, You don't capture a star destroyer on your second mission.
And what is worst of all - woke infection.
Consider the empire campaign, you get a black female admiral. A gender neutral asian captain (woman I guess?). A gay asian man as one of your co-pilots who constantly refers to his "husband" despite it having no relevance to the game. A masked man of unknown origin. A white female with a psychotic personality disorder.
Now the rebels. A Black male commander. A black female squadron member. 3 alien members - good I guess. A guest cameo from a white male.
That is it. White male = bad I guess?!?!?
I paid 2 dollars for it and I feel I paid too much. I guess I used a bit of their bandwidth to help even it out?
You could have kept going about the nonsensical ISD capture plot, the rest of the illogical narrative, or just stopped. The appearances and sexual orientations of the characters are just surface-level elements, they're not that important, nor a problem.
You can't fix Squadrons by adding more white people.
