Most OpenVR/OpenXR apps will work really well with the Streaming Assistant app as they directly use the PICO API
Literally (and I do mean it in the definition of the dictionary) unplayable.
However, if you want better performance and PQ you can use VD Godlike setting like this ...
FWIW ...
- Start Virtual Desktop on PC
- [Start Steam -> if the game was bought there]
- Launch "Star Wars Squadrons in 2D" (select the top option, not the launch in VR option !)
- Star Wars Squadrons should be the focus window (click on it if not)
- In-game, go to the SWS 'Options' menu and put the mouse cursor or gamepad/joystick selection on Toggle to VR Button
- Only then Start Virtual Desktop App on the (PICO 4) headset !
- Launch the Virtual Desktop App on the VR headset
- From the Virtual Desktop menu use the left hand side Button to launch Steamvr
- In the SWS options menu now use the toggle VR button
- Star Wars Squadrons launches into 6 DOFVR
- Select to stay into VR
- Use the '-' button (or other button/key, depending ...) on the PC keyboard to "calibrate" the view
- Star Wars Squadrons can then be played in 6 DOF VR using Virtual Desktop too !
Thank you so much for this. Unfortunately I gave up and went for the refund. Im using it on EA app with Streaming Assistant. Can only imagine now what the performance would have been with VD
VR looks like a bit of an afterthought the way in was integrated.
Why would that VR toggle even be necessary if not to solve problems because on some systems the game did/does not start immediately into 6 DOF VR !?
I never found an explanation exactly why it was done the way it is in SWS.
However, I do feel VR in SWS is the way to play a game like this !

IMHO Within the limited scope the Devs were allowed to (possible lack of resources and lackbuster ongoing support like not 1 DLC ?) this is still a *very* good game and surely worth the small price that is asked for it.
True Star Wars fans simply have to get it ... no question about that !
Now all I need is to get F1 23 working with the Pico4 and Virtual Desktop.
But I admit, it is far from ... obvious.
Does anyone has this problem?
True! Streaming assistant works in vr ''non wired'' without color issues, yet unable to up the resolution ''still looks too blurry even when using steams 150% subpixel rendering''. Usb a and c ''wired'' has inaccurate colors too.
VD doesn't detect it as a vr game, just a screen being displayed with color issues also, on my behalf. This is my only vr supported game that has this issue thus far.
Tried it on me bro's q3 with VD and worked just fine. Wish I could help, yet sharing alleviated some of my constrainments. SW is a part of my core
