PICO 4 and Virtual desktop
Hi, I have searched other posts but none seemed to have a solution. I cannot get into VR MODE with my Pico 4 using Virtual desktop. Anyone to help?

For me the same. Can someone provide a detailed explanation what steps to do?

Up?

Also on PICO 4 here, I use the official Streaming Assistant app with squadrons and it works perfectly,
Most OpenVR/OpenXR apps will work really well with the Streaming Assistant app as they directly use the PICO API

I am using the official streaming app and it doesn't work. The game crashes the moment I take off the headset, or alt tab, or even use pass through mode. I literally can't even get pass the settings screen because I need pass through mode to find K on my keyboard and that crashes the game.

Literally (and I do mean it in the definition of the dictionary) unplayable.

try launching the game through steam instead of vd games tab

I use PICO SA 9.4.15.1 to launch SWS without any problem.
However, if you want better performance and PQ you can use VD Godlike setting like this ...
FWIW ...
- Start Virtual Desktop on PC

- [Start Steam -> if the game was bought there]

- Launch "Star Wars Squadrons in 2D" (select the top option, not the launch in VR option !)

- Star Wars Squadrons should be the focus window (click on it if not)

- In-game, go to the SWS 'Options' menu and put the mouse cursor or gamepad/joystick selection on Toggle to VR Button

- Only then Start Virtual Desktop App on the (PICO 4) headset !

- Launch the Virtual Desktop App on the VR headset

- From the Virtual Desktop menu use the left hand side Button to launch Steamvr

- In the SWS options menu now use the toggle VR button

- Star Wars Squadrons launches into 6 DOFVR

- Select to stay into VR

- Use the '-' button (or other button/key, depending ...) on the PC keyboard to "calibrate" the view

- Star Wars Squadrons can then be played in 6 DOF VR using Virtual Desktop too !

Thank you so much for this. Unfortunately I gave up and went for the refund. Im using it on EA app with Streaming Assistant. Can only imagine now what the performance would have been with VD

SWS uses an odd way to support flatscreen as well as VR. Forums here (as well at a.o. EA) have messages describing issues not unlike those we experience with Virtual Desktop.
VR looks like a bit of an afterthought the way in was integrated.
Why would that VR toggle even be necessary if not to solve problems because on some systems the game did/does not start immediately into 6 DOF VR !?
I never found an explanation exactly why it was done the way it is in SWS.
However, I do feel VR in SWS is the way to play a game like this !

IMHO Within the limited scope the Devs were allowed to (possible lack of resources and lackbuster ongoing support like not 1 DLC ?) this is still a *very* good game and surely worth the small price that is asked for it.
True Star Wars fans simply have to get it ... no question about that !

The only way I can get SWS to work with the Pico 4 and Virtual Desktop is to install Oculus software. Last October when I replaced my Rift with the Pico 4, I still had Oculus software on my PC, I bought SWS and it worked with Virtual Desktop. I then built myself a new PC and I could only get SWS to work through Pico Streaming software. Last week I installed Oculus software again and SWS works in Virtrual Desktop again.

Now all I need is to get F1 23 working with the Pico4 and Virtual Desktop.

@Sabbath. SWS should work, also for you, with VR and without Oculus software IF you do it the way I described above (you may even be able to do it with 1 less step).
But I admit, it is far from ... obvious.

Use Pico's streaming assistant, works great now

I can start the game with both PIco's streaing assistant and Virtual Desktop, but colors don't work properly, everything is blue tinted and reds and yellows doesn't seem to be shown. When running in 2D works fine.

Does anyone has this problem?

Replying to some here
True! Streaming assistant works in vr ''non wired'' without color issues, yet unable to up the resolution ''still looks too blurry even when using steams 150% subpixel rendering''. Usb a and c ''wired'' has inaccurate colors too.
VD doesn't detect it as a vr game, just a screen being displayed with color issues also, on my behalf. This is my only vr supported game that has this issue thus far.
Tried it on me bro's q3 with VD and worked just fine. Wish I could help, yet sharing alleviated some of my constrainments. SW is a part of my core :XWing: Come on pico and/or devs if you will

I've tried every tricks mentioned here plus a few others from reddit and nothing works with Virtual Desktop. Hopped on their discord and tried to get support but they're basically denying it having any problem at all as everything is working on their end. It seems to be a Pico+VD issue as people with Quest 3 don't have the same problem.

Well, still not working. With VD it doesn't switch into the VR Mode and with Pico's Streaming Assistant I get an "Oh no! SteamVR has encountered an unexpected problem". Sorry, but PCVR is a pile of crap. :angrytitan:
