Mouse controls - how to avoid the dragging
Hi everyone,

Squadrons us the first space shooter game I have been playing for a long time (except the space missions in Star Wars The Old Republic), but I slightly do remember that older space simulations (like Tie Fighter, X-Wing, Free Space, Freelancer etc.) had a direct mouse control. That is when I used the mouse to move right or left, the movement was precise and instant. Thus I could focus ships etc. easily. But in squadron the movement is kind of "dragging" behind the mouse movement. For example, after having moved left, and then steering the mouse to the right, there is a delay - like inertia. Is this supposed to be like that`? Because it makes focussing on targets extremely difficult.

Is there a strategy to get around that?

Cheers,

lead

It's supposed to be like that.

Analog mouse input in Squadrons directly affects your turn rate, just like traditional analog stick and joystick inputs.

It keeps mouse inputs from being too strong compared to other options.

Ok understood. But nevertheless, the mouse being superior does not imply that it should not be taken advantage of - at least in single player (if you are referring to multiplayer, I do absolutely understand). So there is no way around that? Well, then I guess I have to train playing like that. At least on the lowest difficulty level maybe it will work out.

Thanks for this, saves me wasting time trying to make this work.

Well, I don´t have neither a stick nor a controller - never played with them either. Is there no configuration file or similar where you can switch to direct mouse control`?

I have the same problem, there is a delay with mouse input, it almost makes the game unplayable. I have never seen this before in a flight type simulation, certainly there is a way to turn off this and have the mouse directly control it?

I should had read this before I bought it lol. Asking for a refund now, even having paid 85% less or something like that :SmugBushwhacker: I put mouse on 1% sensitivity and it is, like someone said, literally unplayable.

This is either a skill issue or you have your "mouse screen motion range" set way too low. I seriously don't know what everybody is complaining about, plenty of games have similar methods of control, the Half-Life 2 mod Eternal Silence comes to mind, which I played a ton of.
