Game just won't start

Every single time I launch, a pop up gives me an error saying "unspecified error". Sometimes it used to launch into the loading screen and then just go to black and never load, but now it just doesn't launch anyway. Anyone else with this issue? Why doesn't siht ever just work?

I have similar problems. It Mainly that it just crashes out completely after the screen that lets you do the initial setup for VR and so on. Mind you, so far I can only get any distance in desktop mode because in VR when it starts, its black with a small "Close" text upper right. But you can't access that text.

So far my experience is, shall we say, suboptimal.

This is dead. Anything coming out from EA are all problematic. Reinstalling also won't help. Even downloaded onto a new pc, fresh windows installation, still can't get this game to start at all. Never buy anything at all from EA.

I suggest contacting EA support if you are having problem with this game. Use the real time CHAT option to talk to an actual human who can help you get playing. I had some issues with my first run, and they got me fixed up and now the game launches and runs great.

The issue you’re having needs to be posted as a new thread on that forum. It won’t get visibility from the right people on the Steam Discussions page for the game. It needs to be seen by the Community Managers over at EA because they need to be able to log it. If it’s a problem they can talk you through, great! If not, they need it to be there so that they can know the volume of problems that people are still experiencing with this game. I’m posting this to a number of threads on this Discussions page.

Please, please take the very short amount of time it does to log in to the forum and copy/paste your issue into a new thread, and make sure to label it as being for STAR WARS: Squadrons in the thread title. It may not do anything, but it will at least bring attention to your issue in the right space. You already have an EA ID because you probably had to link your steam account to it when you first set up the game. It'll take 5 mins, tops, and it helps the community more with each person that does so.

In starwarssquadrons.exe go to properties then to compatybility settings and set "Run this program as administrator".

I also tried to run the ".exe" file as admin, but not success. I originally bought this game on EA Origin app a few years ago and it played well with no issue. There's something wrong with the Steam version for sure.

Update: That inital startup screen that gives you option to play Squadron or Squadron with VR. Just make sure you check the small box at the botton to Always choose the normal Squadron game and then start the game. That elimated the error for me.

mine is broken too. I contacted EA support at least 3 times and wasted countless hours on chat with them., eventually they said they would get back to me and never did. it just goes to the anti cheat screen and then quits. :(

update 2: Disregard. After exiting the game session I had and tried to play again with it not working again. This game is broken on Steam. Im going to uninstall and re-install in EA Origin as I have a 2nd copy there.

update 3: when I play my copy of this game from EA Origin, it loads up fine. They distributed an erroneous version of this game to Steam. Steam version is full of problems that EA refuses to fix.
