*** These worthless coders should be fired ***
After some months waiting for the game to be fully patched and updated, I decided to try Star Wars Squadrons again today. And what a surprise:

- VR for Oculus Quest 2 via Virtual Desktop and SteamVR, which worked before, doesn't work anymore.

- Some resolutions in Fullscreen make the screen blink with intermitent flashes, like you're gonna have a stroke any second.

- Other resolutions in Fullscreen just have plain bad washed out colors, like the stupid game is forcing HDR when no HDR is set or available anywhere.

- Game runs below 60fps with less than 40% GPU and 20% CPU usage...

Ok, set to Borderless to avoid this crap, then:

- The *whole* game is plagued with stutter now. *Constant* stutter. Like hitches/stutters *every* few seconds.

And ALL THESE TRYING TO RUN THE GAME AT JUST 1080p at 60Hz!  *facepalm*

It doesn't matter if I change Nvidia driver versions (RTX 2080 Super), change nvidia drivers options, update the OS, disable OC, fiddle with game options, config files, etc. The problems stay *exactly* the same.

This didn't happen before. I did suffer bad VR performance, washed out colors at *some* resolutions in Fullscreen, and some very *very* minor hitching/stuttering in normal gameplay. Now it is frigging everywhere.

How much of a duffer you have to be to make your game this worse after FIVE MONTHS?

I don't know what is the top level of uselesness a developer can reach, but this sure gotta be some record breaking level right here.

Just finished Cyberpunk 2077 and it played like the most polished game ever compared to this pile. Yeah... *Cyberpunk*.

The most baffling thing is... with all its problems, the first release of the game, FIVE MONTHS AGO, worked MUCH BETTER than this garbage.

Star Wars Squadrons coders should be put where they belong: cleaning toilets. But maybe that's a task beyond their abilities too, and they'll end up leaving them dirtier than before.

Runs well on my WMR Odyssey on a 1070. Maybe a Quest or SteamVR issue?

Squadrons runs just fine. Blame your VR

I just bought it and can't get it to load either. Right now I have the resolution at UHD, the load screen looks like I've set UHD on an HD monitor (I can see only the top left quadrant) and nothing works. VR won't even load but that could be due to working through whatever the issue is on screen. It always annoys me we a top tier game won't load on common hardware. Rather than playing I get to sit here and fiddle with settings all afternoon so I can play it on my next day off...

Maybe just maybe it might be a steam issue. I know something else that got updated around the same time as squadrons, but lets all jump on the band wagon and blame the game as it cant be possibly anything else that's installed, after all its only squadrons that gets updated right.
Your lack of computer skills is disturbing.

I don't normally comment on things like this but you asking for someone to lose their job is just ridiculous

This right here is what I was hoping to see more of.

I get that when things don't work it can be frustrating but this isn't the result of incompetence on the side of the people who wrote the code for this game. This level of aggression and toxicity shouldn't be welcome in any community. This isn't even a thread asking for help on solving the problem, it's just needless aggression and hostility.

Lmao those sorts of commenters are the worst. Sorry you have to deal with 'em

Does it work ok without VR?

Try to find out what setting bothers it. It works for most, so it should be something specific.

Yeah, and yet even some other genius goes further and not only defend it, but also throws a personal attack at me, like I'm the one that made the game worse after 5 months or he's forced to enter my thread, read it and post his stupid personal attack that adds NOTHING of value... *facepalm*

My tone is angry... OF COURSE. Why wouldn't I be? FIVE MONTHS after I buy a game I still can't use it....
BUT I described the problems IN DETAIL, it's not an empty rant without any point, like some of the answers of some geniuses here.

I bought a game that was broken and is *more* broken after FIVE MONTHS (Bravo!) of updates and "fixes". I already spent don't know how many hours trying to get this pile to a playable state. Even helped others that had problems I found how to solve, meaning I even already DONE some of the devs work, and sure a lot more than the people here adding nothing useful.

No, it doesn't:

- Some resolutions in Fullscreen make the screen blink with intermitent flashes, like you're gonna have a stroke any second.

- Other resolutions in Fullscreen just have plain bad washed out colors, like the stupid game is forcing HDR when no HDR is set or available anywhere.

- Game runs below 60fps with less than 40% GPU and 20% CPU usage...

If I set Borderless the above doesn't show, but there is stutter like every 2 seconds.

PC is a Ryzen 9 4.0Ghz with a RTX 2080 Super, so it's not a problem of "potato pc".

I played dozens of games with this machine... no problems. Played hundreds of games over the years, even with the same Frostbite engine like Battlefront 1 and 2, NFS', ... and had no problems... then comes this pile and there's no way of getting a decent performance out of it.

I already spent many days over these months since release trying to fix the game... instead of playing it. That time is a lot more valuable than the price of the game itself.

First it was the input. The Logitech HOTAS support was WRONG and it just kept accelerating, didn't stop. Found a workaround and reported the problem. Even after reporting it they took more than a month to fix it. Then VR performance and quality was garbage, with all sorts of problems. Gave up on VR and now even on a normal display and after don't know how many updates the game can't run properly.

to be honest, I am having the same problem. It DID work fine when first released, and i was kinda thinking it was the Nvidia drivers to blame - but ive had a few updates to those and still the game is the same for me. I have even reinstalled the game from scratch and no dice.

The game is slow to load in the sense the menus are so laggy - and when you get to play the game it stutters every few seconds as previously mentioned. I know it worked when it first came out so im not really pointing the finger at the devs unless an update really broke something but then others are playing it without problems so i dont know.
I also have a Ryzen 9 3900X and MSI 2080 RTX

so, as yet im not sure whats causing the issue.....

you could look at this ?

*** Update ***
I did try this myself and while it did make the front end menus a lot better, in gameplay Im still getting the stutter to an extent where its not really enjoyable to play....

oh well back to the drawing board lol
