Then you just go through the menus to the "practice" option with a starship of your choice and you can select for the game to deploy a range of different enemies (everything from TIE fighters to a Star Destroyer... or the corresponding Rebel ships) to practice your newly mapped weapons/abilities with.
The only hiccup for me was that the game seemed to detect my Thrustmaster T16000M joystick & throttle, so I didn't expect to have to do anything; but it turned out the accelerate/decelerate wasn't mapped to the throttle, so I had to go into the key mapping thing described above and put those functions on the throttle manually there.
Now Elite Dangerous... I just got that one and I'm still figuring it out. Great looking game just hard to figure out how to get it working.
