Enjoyable in VR with gamepad or keyboard+mouse only?

Is this game any fun in VR-only using either a gamepad or keyboard+mouse (so no hotas)? Are the controls using gamepad or keyboard+mouse really good, or is it awkward so not really worth it?

I’m currently playing it on an Oculus Quest 2 and a DualShock 4. No problems at all and I’m having a blast with it. Haven’t felt a need to remap any controls. Play it plenty without the VR as well.

If you're playing in VR, you're better off using a gamepad over the keyboard and mouse. A VR headset blocks your view of the keyboard. Of course, neither of them compare to a good HOTAS system on your side.

see if you c an get yourself an old thrustmaster or a ps4 hotas system good and cheap, as it will give you the best experience in VR

As someone who never really uses a controller for anything, a controller is 10x better than the useless m/k control scheme. It works quite well. Playing through the campaign in VR.

Yes. I play with Xbox360. I even bought a pricey HOTAS, but returned it, as it felt really uncomfortable and not remotely precise enough, compared to the controller. You are deifnitely fine with Gamepad! #MouseAndKeyboardSucks.

VR is a must for this game. You will see the difference with the fighters. Im waiting for EA and other game corporations to switch over to VR for their FPS games too. But I will play some of these arcade games for flying only or using vehicles only Im too old for these video games now.

I dont know what to say about controls to use I use the keyboard only to fly.
