Tryng to find Keyboard Remapping for an X Wing Alliance/X Wing vs Tie Fighter Player

OK...Squadrons.

So, now that it's out, I thought i'd give it a shot. I've come from X Wing Alliance, X Wing vs Tie Fighter etc (from years of play, I admit yes, I still do, weekly to be honest).

I'm using XBOX One pad and I'm used to the keyboard control style of XWingvTie, I'm trying to work out if I can remap it AT ALL to the same mapping, as, as weird it is to say, I'm not used to accelerating using pad, it feels alien to me (you'd normally use backspace on kb for full throttle, and use other keys to drop to 1/3, to turn & accelerate). You'd use left stick for x axis, right stick for Y axis.

Wondering if anyone else out there is getting similar issues, I'm trying to find some form of mapping guide that may help so I can map it accurately?

Also, finding it, EXTREMELY unstable, will crash out & cancel the EXE at the smallest notice, maybe my setup, anyone else finding instability right now? I admit it's early version & updates are coming in thick & fast.

It's got a pretty robust remapping ability, what's your issue?

It does, I'm seeing some extreme differences to XwingvTie with control styles (i'm not used to accelerating using pad, I can appreciate that sounds, stupid). I'm just trying to see if others have noticed the differences, and if there's any mapping guides to get the keys back to the original games where people might have already tried to remap it back to the older style games (I can imagine there's a lot of the older players trying to convert).

I'm picking it up otherwise, I guess I sound lazy, the game IS 11 days old. I've tried to map a few commands, but ti's...a big jump compared to X Wing Alliance.

Anyone out there managed to get a remap done yet?

Set throttle to buttons to increase / decrease in steps of 50%.

Set W, S, X to shields forward, balanced, backward.

Use advanced power management, and set 1, 2, 3 to maximize engine, laser, shield. Or F8, F9, F10 if you want.

I've realised the obvious, you can't adjust both keyboard and gamepad, as you have to use either the gamepad only, or Keyboard and MOUSE (something of which I haven't seen since X wing).

If you can't use keyboard to accelerate & adjust, whilst using gamepad to roll, honesty, I'd rather not play. I get how that sounds, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ EA (they STILL don't get it).

I'll try with the standard gamepad controls (and I'll try Marley's suggestion), but I can't do this whole 'boost' push forward ♥♥♥♥, sorry, you're OK.

Here's hoping EA eventually unlock the control remapping to both in an update, but I'm not holding out much hope after their 3 month update window, it'll be dead forever after that (it's EA).

I use a combination of joystick and keyboard when playing, i dont see how you couldnt do the same with gamepad. I played through most of the campaign before doing online stuff and i found almost every mission there was something useful i needed to rebind to play more efficiently.

It takes time to get it perfect, just make sure you are in the right binding tab and not trying to bind gamepad buttons while in the keyboard tab etc
