The VR in this game kinda sucks?
Am I doing something wrong? i'm on the latest driver and on a valve index and running max settings. outer space (the stars i mean) looks like a bad jpeg, and animations feel like they're running at 60 fps instead of 90 or higher

You did nothing wrong except believe like the rest of us that this game was ready for PCVR release. Everything outside of the cockpit is 60fps so when you turn your ship every 3D object, every neon targeting symbol, every laser beam, hell even the distance nebulae doubles with a ghost image of itself and the faster you turn and worse it appears.

It affects every PCVR user and am an Index user myself. There is no workaround unfortunately, and we must wait for them to fix it. At this point I’m worried about how my VR performance will suffer when they finally fix it and allow us our target FPS.

As a PC gamer I really hope these untested and half-baked ports of console games stop sometime before I become too jaded to bother anymore.

agreed it sucks. I use Oculus Link on Origin version and it stutters after few minutes even in the lowest option. I even see black bars when I turn my head around. EA better fix this serious performance issue.

what system and headset you running

Water cooled i7 9700K@5.0GHz, 1080ti, 16GB 3200MHz RAM, SSD. Index and OG Vive. Game runs with zero stutters at 90Hz mode with everything set to high in game, 130% SS and motion smoothing disabled. I can set it to 120\60Hz mode, 100% SS, motion smoothing forced on or disabled, all in game VR graphics settings low, vsync on the mirror display on or off, SteamVR beta or not, latest NVIDIA driver or an older one. Nothing makes any difference.

I have 20 years of experience in tweaking and optimizing PC games, 3 years with VR. I’ve scoured every forum and watched every video related to this game and have tried everything. It is not noticeable in videos because it doesn’t show up in the 2D mirror view. It is only visible in the HMD. EA must love that.

Anyone playing this in VR has the issue, I guarantee it.

I’m not talking about stutter or performance issues at all. It runs smooth at all times for me. I’m talking about the ghosting of everything outside of the cockpit as you turn quickly. I can even be sitting still and if a ship flies across my vision directly in front of me it will have the double image of itself trailing slightly behind it. If I target something and yaw to the left the neon targeting square will visibly separate into two squares and the squares will be farther apart the faster I yaw. Stop moving and they combine back into one. Whether or not this issue is caused by the 60fps limit remains to be seen, but it feels so.

Mine plays perfectly smooth, even with dozens of explosions going off around and in front of me. This is NOT a performance issue. If you target something in front of you, and you quickly yaw to the left or right does the target square separate into two with one being a slightly transparent ghost image of itself? What HMD are you using?
hihi1210 Oct 9, 2020 @ 10:06pm
feels very good in Valve Index VR 120hz mode. Have a RTX 3080 build, default to ultra settings. Though the 1.1 will crash at any cutscenes in VR.

and im telling you mine doesnt do that. my targets dont seperate or ghost out like that. and when i say smooth i didnt mean performance wise just like it was normal. im using oculus rift s. same hardware as you except my video card is watercooled

“Is very good” doesn’t tell us anything. I’m not at all talking about “performance”. Do you or do you not see the doubling of objects outside of the cockpit when you quickly yaw to one side or the other?

try building a better computer. your ♥♥♥♥ sucks bro

I have a 3900x, 32gb of ram, and an RTX 2080 with the game installed on a nVME 2.0 . and it still runs like ♥♥♥♥. Just because you're not experiencing a problem, doesn't mean others are.. you can search the discussion board for multiple threads like this. It's nobody's computer, it's the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game.
