Game Crashes Upon Booting up
I recently purchased Squadrons and I can't play it. When I go to launch the game it does the start up but once it opens the game it closes to desktop. I've checked my drivers, I verified my files, Disabled Full Screen Optimization, the whole 9 yards and nothing has helped.

Hi i had the same problem even got refund then found fix on reddit. Only thing i needed to do was disable the steam overlay on the games general settings. Also when launching make sure your desktop res is set to 1920x1080 as if using 4 you will not see full screen on startup. Hope this works for you. To disable the overlay go to the game properties under general and unt ick the tab enable steam overlay.

Thanks acolon, but that did not work here. I still get a splash logo and it just quits the game.

Sorry to hear that there was a list of fixes to try for this see the link attached. First one worked for me.

Are you using a 5700 xt? I had to slightly lower the power consumption through the radeon software as my power supply couldn't handle the sudden spike when this game first loads. After dropping maybe 5% power draw it runs great with no crashes.

Would it be better to switch off of steam and get it on Origin or is it the same issue there?

I did it, and the issue is still there, I’ve tried everything, including a fresh windows installation, and still not able to make it run.

Things I’ve tried:

-change display resolution to 1920x1080
-latest Nvidia drivers (using 2080 ti sli, stock clock speed)
-turn off sli
-turn off all overlays (steam, origin, nvidia)
-change nvidia drivers to DCH
-“clean start” by disabling all of the startup services but Microsoft’s
-re-install/repair the game a few times on steam and origin
-turning on/off windows 10 game mode
-full screen and windowed mode
-a fresh windows installation and then all of the above

My rig:

I9-9980xe
4x nvidia rtx 2080ti (with 2x two way sli water cooled )
256Gb RAM
Asus ws x299 sage mother board

Has anybody been able to actually solve it?
