OMG what a mess. I'm having the same issue and i can't find a work around.
also have you guys tried the steam controller mapping you may be able to do that
A. Play with a keyboard in VR (Not as hard as you think K/D 1.15 in dogfights)
B. Play with a joystick
In my opinion you'all are missing out on one of the greatest Star Wars games. Not just under EA but the whole lot.
