I'm using the Quest myself. Are you saying the Quest controller isn't doing anything? If THAT'S what you mean, yeah... they don't work in the game. How I have to get in game is get my headset on and run the game off my PC in VR mode and navigate the menus with my keyboard.

I was hoping the quest controllers would register as a game controller or something, but nerp.

Unfortunately it would seem you are suppose to use your VR for viewing , and your keyboard for control. Never mind the fact you cant see your keyboard while playing, like me I tried to use brail, it didn't work. The controllers for OQ2 vr have joysticks on them as well as buttons, so why they cant use them i don't know. Perhaps they will provide an update, but they do already have your money, so the VR bit is a bit lame.

Thank you for the answers guys, appreciate it! I got the money back from the game...How come 2020 and this kind of things are happening with a game that is sold as an VR option...Ridiculous.

Here we go again. It is standard procedure in driving/flying games in VR to play with a steering wheel/Hotas/flight peripherals. Motion controllers (even vr ones) are not precise enough to simulate a joystick and throttle. Yes they could program them to work like a gamepad but then just hook up a gamepad. No your not supposed to play with a keyboard and mouse. You will find the same "problem" in other sim games in VR

This makes me so sad... I wanted to use my Quest controllers like flight sticks in Virtual Desktop also. I've even been waiting, because I wanted to enjoy the game beginning to end in VR. But now it sounds like they might not be prioritizing a fix for this. How hard was it to get your money back?

Same here. It was very fast and easy to get the money back:

Step-By-Step Instructions
Navigate to Steam Help (help.steampowered.com) and log in with your Steam account.
After you have logged in, click on A Purchase.
Find the purchase you would like to refund and click on it. ...
Select the problem you are having with the product.
Next, click I'd like to request a refund.

It's a real barrier to me. I wanted to experience, for example, Subnautica with VR, and ran into similar head-scratching issues where controllers didn't just work, out-of-box. And I fought trying to figure it out for so long, it made me hate the game for a minute. I don't want that to happen here too. I don't want to hate it. So I'd rather just not play it until they figure it out, or I'll try to get it refunded idk.

Just because a cheap chinese made controller can't simulate a irl joystick doesen't mean VR is broken, either:
A. Play with a keyboard in VR (Not as hard as you think K/D 1.15 in dogfights)
B. Play with a joystick
In my opinion you'all are missing out on one of the greatest Star Wars games. Not just under EA but the whole lot.

it's so stupid. You can control the game with a normal controller, or a joystick, or keyboard and mouse, but they don't even have the decency to add ANY level of support for ANY vr controllers. This game looks fantastic and runs so well, and i could excuse not having any sort of motion tracking, but they don't let use even use any buttons. That's like, the 2nd most natural way to play such a game in vr, behind a genuine joystick. And there's no way to bind them like a regular controller? Even though we have 2 joysticks, 4 triggers, and 4 buttons? There's no support whatsoever? Why market it as a vr game if the vr support is so limited? It's such a shame. I really got my hopes up. What a joke.

Please add Quest 2 support. I'm unable to use my controllers
Olympic Fighter Nov 27, 2020 @ 11:43pm
Guys, I'm on Oculus and there are literally not enough buttons on the Oculus controllers. An X-box controller can BARELY fit all the functions of this game and a lot of stuff requires awkward moves (boosting with L stick in) or convoluted shortcuts with scroll wheels. With an Oculus controller you are least 5 buttons short to even reach an Xbox controller minimum level of play. Specifically you are missing the 4 directions on the d pad that are all used and the Select Start buttons (or whatever they are called these days) in the middle. Why is it so hard to just play with an xbox controller (or if you really want the best experience, a HOTAS)? Surely you have something besides the oculus controllers laying around.

Games aren't designed to work out of the box with a 3rd party product such as Virtual desktop. They are designed to work with Steam VR. It's upto the Virtual desktop developer to sort out such issues.
