Jek Tono "Piggy" Porkins. Let's talk some pork.
Pilots. LISTEN UP!

Let's talk puffer pork. And by puffer pork, I mean Star Wars starfighting tactics.

Jek Tono Porkins, "Piggy" for short, is a Galactic hero! And so, key starfighting tactics and maneuvers have been named after him.

We have the infamous "Porkin's Formation". This formation was often used by Rogue Squadron, as they would come in fast, low and hard to do a strafing run. It's meant to hide your numbers and the formation is very tight and closed in, to limit the amount of enemy flank fire. This formation is more about the angle of attack rather than appearances. For example come at a capital ship from the side top angle or the side lower angle. This will decrease the amounts of turrets that can fire at your squad. Instead of coming at it straight forward or from the side.

The Porkin's Formation allows for Republic fighters to do the "Porkin's Belly Run" maneuver most effectively.

The Porkin's Belly Run works as so:

This maneuver depends on being ultra fast (as fast as your starfighter can be), so even though you focus your shield towards the front, your ship's energy is primarily focused on your engines. Your targeting systems are on target long before the enemy turrets are on you.

1. Target your target. For example the capital ship's shield generator or the capital ship's targeting system or all the turrets on the lower right side of the capital ship to create an entry point for further attacks. And command your team to attack that target. Most importantly! STAY ON TARGET!

I can not stress enough how important it is for your team to stay on target! If there are five of you, and one of you is being attacked, STAY ON TARGET, because even if one of you goes down, there are still four of you taking down the target! We all know what we signed up for!

2. Engage frontal shields. The capital ship's gunners will see you and your fighters coming in, and coming in fast! So engage those frontal shields! But have your power focused on engines, because you will need that speed. There is no stopping, adjusting, aiming, you and your team are a force of nature - a fiery phoenix from the depths of Bogan! Youre coming in and coming right the hell out. You need your engines at full power to help you escape those tractor beams!

You also want to weave in short left and right movements when coming in. Not large movements, because you dont want to break your Porkin's Formation.

3. Get the hell out of there! Once your team hits your target with everything your team has, keep it moving (try to execute an escape drift for further distance and to weave), and simultaneously engage your back shields to help keep you alive. Weave left to right.

4. Rinse and repeat. Or go resupply. Keep in mind, now an Imperial capital ship is between you and your Supply Frigates and chances are your frigates are down by now. So form up fast again, and find your target, engage front shields and go for another run, or try a different tactic like taking down enemy fighters as your raid ship continues to pound the star destroyer.

Rest in Freedom, Jek Tono "Piggy" Porkins. May the Force be with you.

[On a side note, George Lucas later on in life after writing in that character became rather porky himself. Karma. Don't make fun of people, because you never know what the future has in store for you. =P]

George Lucas is Porkins, he just didn't know it back in '77.

Point taken. George had no idea in the 70's. Allot of young people never do, unless they learn otherwise.

Ket Tono Porkins was actually played by William Hootkins (funny last name too, LOL). He also played Major Eaton in Raiders of the Lost Ark and Gotham City police lieutenant Max Eckhardt in Batman 1989. He passed away in 2005, in Santa Monica, California from pancreatic cancer. But we will always remember him as Alliance Starfighter rebel pilot, Porkins. And the younger generation as the Star Wars guy in the gif animated meme where he gets blown up trying to balance fries and a coke in his X-Wing. Still, in a galaxy, far, far away he died a hero and a martyr against galactic imperialism and for a democratic galaxy.
FYI, In case people thought I was trolling. Porkin's Formation and Porkin's Belly Run are all from wookiepedia.
