Help Can't get my Joystick to show up ingame under Control Menue
So as the subject say's I cannot get my Thrustmaster Flight Stick X to recognise ingame under Control Options, yes its pluged into the PC and yes its Recognised on my PC, ive followed a guide where i also turned of ''Forced Off'' in steam properties for the game itself and nothing..

Im at a loss atm, i realy want to play the game, but not with Keyboard and Mouse, and a Controller i do not own nor do I want a Controller, when i play a Flight game i prefer Flight Stick.

So any idea's?
and also no a new Joystick is not an option.. my one is only around 2 years old if that...

hi hope i can help you maybe. so i think you look in the wrong spot for the controls maybe, when you are in game , you shouldnt have to look under the controls tab on the top. you should go under options - controls - set new mapping. from there , there are 3 types of controls you can set menu, hangar, and flight. hit one of em, best thing is menü, and from there, you have to go again on the top to the joystick tab far right. there is no thing who tells you what type of joystick you have or something.if you map something it tells you numbers of buttons if you map something, best thing to know what type of number your joystick has is, if you go in windows search bar and type in gamecontroller and open it, from there you see all the numbers when you hit buttons.

I'm getting the same issue, but the joystick is very old it's a gameport one with a usb adapter, it's seen in windows, but not in the game. It's the one I used to play X-Wing with.

well last thing i can say is try different ports . like if you have 2.0 and 3.0 at least that did it for me strange thing is it recognizes the 2.0 instead of 3.0 anyway good luck

Look in Game Control Panel in Windows and see how many controllers are shown. If your stick is there and is selected as the Preferred device and you have less than four controllers I am not sure why it is not showing. You could use Joystick Gremlin and remap all your axis to the Vjoy (virtual joystick) and use that. If you have more than four and your stick is past the forth in the list then either unplug some.

Drivers I already had before i posted to make sure, didnt do anything.. still trying to work at making this work, otherwise i will have to get my Fathers old Saitek X52 maybe tomorrow or the day after... pending on time, as he New Setup so, i know thats not being used... just so annoying...

Sounds annoying especially if the stick is in the windows game controllers list.
(Press windwos key, type "Set up USB Game Controllers" without the quotes.

The game should see all controllers listed there.

The only other idea I have: Is your controller in the correct mode? You wrote that your joystick is ancient and still using gameport, but there is an old Playstation stick called T.Flight Stick X from Thrustmaster and that has a switch for PS3 and PC mode. These days there are actually lot console hotas with those mode switches, so that they work for PC and Playstation.

Hi Vharzul just if in case your problem is not fix.

If you just plug in your joystick and move it around when in the menu you will see the top bar change from q-e to 1-2. This means you joystick is active.

This worked for me so best of luck.

Many joysticks will not work with usb 3.0.

Go into Steam Library , Right Click on Squadrons , Settings , Make Sure Global Settings is Forced Off , Go Back into the Game in Non Vr , Option Settings , Controller , You Should See Flight Stick Bindings

I have an old Saitek X45. Windows registers it, steam tells me I have a Game Controller 7296 or something along that way. Squadrons doesn't find it. I'll try "Forced Off" and hope it works better. After that I check the USB 2.0 Port. Maybe event via my keyboard.

Edit: I did change my Settings to Force Off. And it worked. Plugged into USB3.
To bad I'm still to bad a gamer to have any advantages with it ;)

So an Update, yea thiers a PC-PS3 Option switch at the back of my T.Flight X which i changed (thaught it was on PC and not PS3 Setting), and unpluged it from USB Port to another.. now it recognises ingame :) going to test it out in a bit... if it works as i wish it too now then id be extreamly happy.. HOTA all fine and good.. i just prefer using 1 Stick with Accel. on it where i can map the buttons accordingly, incombination with keyboard where needed for some thing, having to deal with HOTA two system Stick plus Accel/Thrust is somewhat meh for me.

Addendum, it works now thankfully, just made sure in Game Center Setup on Windows to check if it was still PS3 or PC and now PC and recognises it properly ingame too, was able to change the buttons to how i want mostly, still got to do some teaking... but it does work.

You can try VJoy with Joystick Curves to virtualize your Joystick for Squadrons.

You need basic Tech Saavy skills and ~2 hours to set everything up! Works great for old Gameport devices!

http://www.xedocproject.com/joystickcurves.html
• VJoy: (headsoft_vjoy_1_2.exe)
• Joystick Curves: 0.0.6.15 (setup.exe)
