However, do not understimate their power boosters they get instead. If you press the angle shields button, you'll get an option to supercharge engines or guns instead. Think of it as charging them to 300% when the normal cap is 200% for shielded craft. The cost is completely tanking the other stat, of course.
This makes Imperial TIEs more extreme in their peak performance than Republic ships are.
Ties don't have shields, but they are a lot faster than the Rebel ships.. that's why.
Other Disney Canonical TIEs with shields are the TIE Advanced V1 (which we see in game), TIE Defender, TIE Phantom and TIE Punisher.
It doesn't. To compensate they can take much more punishment directly to the hull.
which really is kind of silly, imo, you wither give the imps more players on a team (like canon) or you give them way better performance at high speed (like canon). TIEs were supposed to be easy to make and cheap to make, and the imperial fleet has heaps of pilots, whereas the rebels had none. if they were into diversifying gameplay, that would be the way to do it. although running around in a TIE interceptor is amazing with the engine boost with full engines.
I've been on more winning Imp sides, so not seeing it impact MP in any real way. So not seeing why they should disregard the lore.
