VR poor performance on any settings?
I am running a GTX 1080 2050mhz and an I7-7700k 5ghz. My game runs at ultra well over 90 frames per second on 1440p. However, running the game at low, medium, high, or ultra all experience poor performance and jittery movement in VR. Admittedly, the game runs at higher FPS on low settings, but medium jumps down to 40-50 frames max. Even at 90 frames the game is still very choppy. I've seen people with 3090's and 2080ti's report similar issues. I am currently using the oculus rift base model. I have no issues running other VR games like elite: dangerous, or no mans sky. Has anyone experienced similar issues?

EDIT: After playing on the Origin version, the game runs at 90FPS all settings. However, this did not resolve the jitter I experience when turning.

Go to your Documents, look for the squadrons folder and edit the files BootOptions and ProfileOptions_profile with any text editor. Look for GstRender.EnableDX12 and set it to 1 in both files. Idk if this helps with VR but it made the game a lot smoother for me. Also make sure HDR is disable ingame, if your headset cannot do HDR.

I just got word that the steam version runs much more poorly in comparison to the origins version when its comes to VR. I am going to try the origin version and report back.

I've just seen someone try that and it's the same. Do let us know though

Which headset you using? I'm on Quest with link and it runs perfect for like 5 minutes and then is pretty unstable, especially when turning my head. Lowering graphic settings do nothing.

EDIT: missed that you're using the Rift, nvm. Still, please report back what you find out using Origin.

Same here. RTX 2080ti, Ryzen 3900x, 16go ram 3600Mhz.
No matter the graphics settings, there is retroprojection.

Would also like a confirmation that it runs better via Origin. I can't handle the stutter when steering my ship on my Rift S. No matter how high or low I put my settings, it happens.

Anyone using WMR ( I have the HP Reverb), I found by switching to 60Hz in the WMR Portal, made the game perfectly smooth for me. I have an i7 9700K and an RTX 2080ti and running everything at Ultra.

Yeah if your headset supports 60hz with motion smoothing thats currently the best option as the game engine is not allowing anything above 60 fps to work properly.

Origin version runs oculus native so it seems to be running much better as my system is pretty much identical to yours and i can run it nearly all on ultra with no issues

Oh man, so basically, its running at 60 fps in VR no matter what headset you have. That would explain why my Rift S, at 80Hz, looks like stutterfest.

Using Rtx 2060 and Index here and the image quality is really bad. Some things are too dark to see and others are too bright... I also had to watch the cutscenes on my tv because it was unwatchable on my headset... I tried all setting and nothing.. and the game crashes if I toggle vr in-game...

I don't have performance issues and I'm using a Pimax with Parallel Projection.
RTX 2080 ti, I7 6700K, 32GB RAM and I'm getting 45 fps with smart smoothing on (that gives 90 fps)

My only problem is those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ CTD.
