Maybe a way to edit the controls in a text file or something would work
Same issue here and I'm using X-55 as well. I think there is a specific bug in the game relating to X-55 (other X-55 users reporting the same). Hope it will patch but in the meantime I worked around by using the X-55 config software to map stick twist commands to produce mouse X-axis inputs. Then delete the default assignments to stick twist axis in the game's own command bindings menu.
Not only are the default menu / flight controls for the X56 absolute GARBAGE, you can't even fly!
I click on Pitch up, then I pull my joystick all the way back, then it just registers the input. I do the same for the roll left. I click on Roll Left, then I turn my stick all the way to the left, and it registers the roll left function.
As for the Yaw, also the same, click on the Yaw right, twist my joystick to the right, and it registers the Z axis..
You have to do it again for every direction though. So if you have pitch up mapped into your joystick axis. You need to do the same for the pitch down, just move the joystick in the other direction to register it.
Fixed with change the stick position Stick in 1 and Throttle in 2 (default for me is stick 2 throttle 1)
