Win7 Fix for Squadrons - Discussion + Solution

....just a quick check if anybody has succesfully loaded in with Win7.

The requirements do of course state Win10, but it is also only DX11...so wondering if that is just stated as Microsoft don't support it anymore, or because it genuinely won't load....

Anyway, most games list W10 now because MS stopped support for W7, but since it supports DX11, there's no reason why it shouldn't run, it's probably just not recommended.

Yeah I've been resisting Win10 upgrade forever, as imho its a legal virus, heheh.

I just tried installing dual boot now and the damn thing refused to leave my Win7 alone and only allowed me to upgrade from the install media I'd created, some tomfoolery already which makes me start looking at Ubuntu and a PS5 I tell you

This, btw, also managed to delete my preload copy as it also insisted on formatting the dual partition on my new SSD I'd made, the control Win10 removes is amazing.

Sooo...I'm downloading AGAIN...I'll post here if it works of course.

This is not true. There are several old Windows versions that MS stopped supporting but developers still list them. That has nothing to do with it. If you are running Windows 7, you likely have an old GPU also.

Genshin Impact
Street fighter 5
Portal 2 (until it was disabled on ps3)

Failing with a DLL error that I have tracked down to a 2015 update to the Unreal SDK. The errant file is this...

GFSDK_Aftermath_Lib.x64.dll

...which generates this error

The procedure entry point DXGIGetDebugInterface1 could not be located in the dynamic link library dxgi.dll

Still hunting for a potential solution/workaround if possible at all.

Hey, I sort of know this error.
I managed to get postal 4, system shock, and a few other "win 10 only" games working with this fix.

Right click reshade.exe -> Open With... -> choose a program you use to unarchive files such as WinZip, WinRAR, 7zip, etc.

You'll see 4 files inside. You only need ReShade64.dll so extract it to your desktop and rename it to dxgi.dll


>Place dxgi.dll into \Steam\steamapps\common\POSTAL 4\Postal4\Binaries\Win64

I'm not sure what the file structure is for this game but you could try putting it where the game's executable is and see if it works.
