there are certain jobs the sim can work from home.
google sims 4 career for more detail
there is a new type of career called active career in dlc get to work, where u have to play the work actively at a custom workplace. u can't choose where to work, it's designated, and only few new type of careers.
or u can try a mod called live-in-biz

i didn't try this, only the other called live-in-svc
from what i understand, u setup part of ur home like a biz/office, and u work there during ur working hours. probably only few type (custom/mod) careers.
like selling ur own paintings at home.
They were rabbit-hole in TS3. You could follow your sims to their work and see them go inside.
In TS4, they just disappear to nowhere. There's no office to click on and send them to work or see where they are.
