The Sims™ 4

The Sims™ 4

everyone complains at the insane DLC quantity...
this is a game launched in 2014. in 6 years it gathered a 40+ DLC number. it was announced that the DLC number will go near 50 and the last pack will be a few months before sims 5 was announced (maybe delayed by covid-19)

my point is: sims 4 got more expansions than sims 3 because it has overall more content, even than the packs seems smaller. not to mention its not required to have ALL the DLC. just the ones you want to expand the gameplay. not to mention nobody pay the full price. i did my DLC complete collection purchasing on sales days in a span of 2 years. NOBODY gets all the DLC at once, except when they are on sale and if you truly love the sims 4 gameplay style.

people that whines that this game is insanely expensive is because they act as if EA would force you to install all the DLC or your computer will blow up if you try to start the game without all the DLC purchased.

its like those stupid games that to change cosmethic options you need to purchase a DLC to change a clothes color. just cause you like red, you are not going to get ALL the DLC with 500 clothes recolors even if it costs 1 usd per DLC. this is the same. you get the DLC that you think you need to enjoy the game. not everything at once. even one DLC at time seems overwhelming getting to know all the build/buy items, new sims interactions, clothes jewerly hair styles etc.

I can't complain. I see a DLC I like - I buy it. Why should I limit myself, just because others do?
I buy everything they develop, I enjoy it, it is a lifetime game for me! :emofdr:

Hahaha! Not even close, you know. Sims 4 in 2020 has roughly the same content Sims 2 had in 2008 and Sims 3 had in 2013 when last SP (in case of Sims 2) or EP (in case of Sims 3) was released, in both cases about four years after the game was released. So, you either purposely lie here, or you live in illusion to defend your favourite game. And the packs don't *seem* smaller. They are smaller. As I noted in another thread, if you want anything that was in Sims 3 Late Night you have to get like 5 or 6 packs for Sims 4 and even then you will not have everything. And that's the case of every single EP. EA always cut something off from them only to sell it in later pack. That's just fact. EPs for Sims 4 cost the same as EPs for Sims 3 did, yet they have much, much, much less content than Sims 3 EPs had. That's another fact. So, if you are lying, stop. If you live in illusion, wake up.
@ Peno11 - Sounds like you don't like the game much anymore...good luck.

Actually, I did not like the game since the beginning. I bought the Collector's Edition, trying to give it a chance and was disappointed. I even bought the first GP, Outdoor Retreat, because it had something Sims 3 did not, family vacation, but once again I was disappointed. After that, I resolved to not support this game anymore. Instead, I put my money I would've spend on The Sims 4 to ETS2 and ATS and I have to say I never was disappointed by SCS with the quality and pricing of their DLCs like I was by EA with almost every new DLC announced for Sims 4 (there are some few exceptions, I have to admit). I will not lie, there are some weak moments I consider to get some DLC (I have to admit that despite the majority opinion, I quite like the new Star Wars DLC, I think it's one of the best quality DLC released for Sims 4), but after I realise what scam EA did with this game I always return back to my resolution and send my money elsewhere. And it pains me. I was with this franchise ever since Sims 1 was released in 2000, supporting it for almost 15 years, but one has to say enough is enough and the DLC policy for Sims 4 was that for me.

People can choose to do what they like around EA products, including TS4 and DLCs. Nothing will change that people can choose to buy DLC's or feel obligated to do so, or not at all.

With that stated, The Sims series has always had addon/dlcs going back to the original game, doesn't matter what the content was, it hasn't changed. TS5 is not going to be any different after it too launches, there is just too much money to make and EA just can't pass up the chance and that is their choice to make as a business. It makes a lot of sense for them.

2020 hasn't been their finest year and the developers have been burned a few times this year for being out of touch in the way they are designing their content, star wars pack included. However that won't stop them from putting out what is left in their content pipeline before TS5 comes out, whenever that will be.

I got a good number of DLCs i paid for (on sale) and TS4 when it was free on early last year on Origin, only two packs i don't believe is worth the value of their position but the rest i have no regrets over. it has been a wild ride, i'm now heading towards 4,700 hours of more or less uninterrupted game time since i started playing the game the middle of last year, that would put it about 11 hours a day from 14 months play. That is crazy...!

The funny thing about TS4, i didn't think anything of it at first when claiming it, but then i decided to give it a chance to play it thinking probably going to be like any other game. How utterly wrong i was! xD

i hate everything about sims 3. clearly they took sims 1 and make it look like sims 2. sims 2 is the equivalent to sims 4 the sims looks realistic and high quality. sims on sims 3 usually are zoomed out and they look like ants. not to mention the constructions look like barbie doll homes.

i only say that the game has so much DLC cause its a 6 years old game. its not like it was released 1 year ago and we are over 40+ DLC to purchase. in 2015 i think there was barely like 2 DLC avaidable.

about sims 5: the EA president last year revealed that the game will work as World of Warcraft: you purchase the client + DLC's but the neighboorhood will be on a server. a gigantic server where ALL the sims will live on a gigantic city (expansions can expand the city or add vacational islands for example) and to generate simoleons (sims money) sims will need to actually work for it even when the player is not present. for example if your sim wants to be a waiter, he will be a waiter NPC when you are not logged in, in a fixed restaurant (like a real digital person) generating simoleons (money) to get stuff, build, get exclusive content. so sims 5 will be totally different. plus you will need a constant internet connection.

Lies, lies and more lies.
https://www.ccn.com/ea-confirms-its-busy-working-on-next-generation-sims-5/
Andrew Wilson in January (2020, not last year, as you lied) clearly said Sims 5 will be both online AND offline, meaning you'll have a choice. Not that it will be cloud-based MMO.
It's one thing for you to spewing lies about Sims 3, which you obviously never played, but it's yet another thing to lie about Sims 5, when easy Google search will reveal your lie.
And this is my last post regarding you, because it's obvious you are nothing but a troll. And I am definitely not gonna feed trolls.

the last two online sims games that were put out on the market lacked popularity and were shutdown. not sure how a third attempt at it will be any more successful than the previous two, especially as TS4 has been the showcase and as noted so far in this thread, there are opinions across the spectrum.

it would be a bold move to try again, i think the idea of half in and half out the door might be one that could work. but that all depends how they go about TS5.

Because EA took over and they're milking every franchise they have very aggressively.

This has been done with EA Sim City launch. It was a disaster.

Like I said, would've been great if you actually played Sims 3.

Sheesh. Looking back at my old screenshots, I realize how much did they cut. There were protests at city hall in sims 3, police officer job, graveyards, and in sims 3 sims could buy a car. Also story progression which worked without mods.
cars are a no go since the base of sims 4 was thought to be online only but with the disaster that EA sim city was, that was modified on the fly. in 2014 the maps where just a schetch of the worlds they are now in pencil and in white and black with the places to place lots. then was modified to what it is today.

i played sims 2 + all the expansions for at least 5 years. so go whine to another place with your complaints. yes sims 2 expansions had more stuff, but it was clutter most of it. i only use about 30% of each expansion items to do magnificents victorian mansions or apartment buildings on sims 2. i do remember the game was quite glitchy and crashes just happened cause it was an old @$$ game sustained trough xp launch up to vista launch. it even struggled to handle over 4 gbs of ram usage... it was quite old even that is the best sims edition to this day.

thats why i started with sims 4. when victorian stuff started to beeing added + alundry day i love washing clothes even IRL.

... so you haven't actually played sims 3(three). Like I said, would be great if you actually played it.

Look, dude, want to be taken seriously, at least be polite and start making sense.

EA is the last company on the planet that could possibly need whiteknighting.

Also, good job responding to a deleted post.

@ Doom @ olc - you both need to let it go and stop attacking each other. You heading for a ban on the board here. We need you both to stay for your valuable opinions and information...

I mean as someone who has played and enjoyed both the sims 3 and 4 I feel that content wise the sims 3 did offer more with both its base game and expansion packs. Heres an example, Sims 3 late night offered city living, celebrity and reputation system, bars and clubs, bands, vampires, hot tubs and apartments all in one expansion $40 bucks. The sims 4 also had a late night esque expansion in the form of city living priced at $40, which included apartments/ an urban city environment, the base game came with one bar and one lounge, and very recently a free hottub was given to all simmers, however if you wanted celebs and the reputation system that is its own pack (get famous) at $40, vampires are standalone at $20, and we have yet to see an option to create bands be added to the sims 4. Going back to the topic on insane dlc quantity the outrage comes from the fact that even tho these two expansion packs are the same in ideology in order for me to have gotten as much content from the sims 4 city living as the sims 3 late night i wouldve had to purchase two extra dlc and spend a total of $100....yikes:steamsad:

i have played sims 3 in small dosis (hate it sorry but for me its sims 2 and sims 4 = love and sims 1 and 3 = hate ) i do agree in sims 2 and sims 3 it was less packs and more content. do remember sims 3 had a micro transaction system to get exclusive items behind a paywall. sims 4 does not have that but does have smaller expansions. so its a balance i think.
