I see. So basically everything works if you log in with the right Origin account when prompted. Thank you!
The DLCs won't be downloaded via Steam, once it's tied to that Origin account you can open up Origin normally and there will be a separate instance of the game just for Steam and you can download all the DLC on that there. Then once you launch it via Steam and it's all downloaded, it will launch that specific version of Sims 4 and all your DLC will be there. :)
If you have dlc on origin, that is for the origin version of the game.
The steam dlc is for the steam version of the game.
nothing gets automatically transferred, and those "modifying" the game by copying their origin files to the steam folder and setting the steam and origin games to never update..
well..
Origins official stance on this matter is they want you to buy the content again. This was not put on steam for people who already have the game on origin. This was put on steam for people who wanted to play the game on steam.
If you have all the content and want to play this on steam..then click add non steam game and save your money. It's basically the exact same thing since it requires you to be signed into origin either way.
All this is getting rather silly.
You people "modifying " the game to get the dlc you should be paying for on steam, are essentially risking your accounts being permanently banned for what?
a badge?
mhmm.
no.
So basically what your saying is id have to leave origin installed have 2 versions of the game installed just to play on steam? Whats the point of having it on steam i may as well just get a refund because i wanted to play on steam but i thought id be able to access all my DLC I have spent allot of money on DLC already. To make people buy it all again thats a bit greedy why should someone have to buy something that they already own just to be able to use a different launcher.
The fact that you'll have to buy it again if you want it here probably isn't going to change, not because it's EA but because they're a company that needs to make money. You will need to keep Origin installed, but you don't need two versions of the game installed.
Uninstall the original version, and install it via Steam and activate it to the correct Origin account. Now in Origin you will have a Steam version of the game which can also have all the DLC installed onto it through Origin, not Steam itself. Steam will launch this version. Yes you do need Origin installed still, but I don't even notice it when I play the game. It appears for about a split second when I launch the game, and then it's minimised, and it closes itself after I close the game.
I mean you're right that it's not actually "transferred", but it does work with no modification. Launching it here launches the Steam version in Origin, which has access to all the same DLCs you already own you just need to download them onto that version and uninstall the old one. I literally did nothing to my game other than install the DLCs again.
or, you can purchase dlc on Steam, no download it, copy the serial number, open origin, reedem the code and download in origin
You may ask what the sense of have TS4 in steam?
At least for latam countries, it matters as at steam can buy with your local currency
