GTA IV Does not start

Presseing play off- and online in Sosial Club, nothing happens. I have uninstalle localy and downloaded\nstalled again - but no cookie. Anyone have any Idea?

Try reinstalling like this: Go to C drive, program files x86, Steam, SteamApps, Common, and delete the GTA 4 folder. THEN go to Steam and right click it in your library and then select delete local content. Then reinstall. Hoped this helped!!

im guessing you're on win 8. Anyway. you need to update games for windows live and then you need to set gta IV compatibility to vista sp2.

To be honest with you, i have no idea. I've never heard of that. Do you see the buttons where you can minimize/the red X in the top right? If so, while in the game, try pressing Alt + Enter. If you don't see those buttons, it's a resolution error. Simply go into the game's settings and change the screen res. to fit your moniter's screen. If that doesn't work, let me know on here. I'll point you in the right direction on what to do.

My Game doesnt go past the rockstar Play on /offline screen......I have windows 7, and a really strong gaming laptop I cant find anything to fix the problem :(

Wait, I think I'm almost in. Just had to download the Windows Live Client.

FYI, the GFWL client is found @ http://www.xbox.com/en-US/Live/PC/DownloadClient

To change compatibility mode you need to find your "steam" folder under program files (x86),
then look for "steamapps" folder, then find the "common" folder, Look for "Grand Theft Auto IV" folder, then "GTAIV" folder, find "GTAIV" application and right click on it, click on "properties", then click on "Compatibility", check "Run this proram in compatibility mode for:", Find "Windows Vista (Service Pack 2)" in the drop down menu, click "apply".

That should solve this problem.

This only works for Windows 8 that I know of. My experience with windows 7 is that it works out of the box.
