Grand Theft Auto IV doesn't launch

Whenever I try to launch GTA IV, it takes me to the Social Club sign-in fine, but when I have logged in and it has authenticated my ID, the window closes and nothing further happens.

Yeah, happened to me too (Windows 8, 64-Bit).

Google for the latest "Games for Windows Client", download it from xbox.com and install it - no need to create a gamertag or log-on in that client, it just needs to be there.

If the game still doesn't start, go to the folder where you've installed it, select the Properties of the "GTA IV.exe", go to Compatibility Settings and try running it in compatibility mode for Windows Vista Service Pack 1 or 2.

If you have Windows 8, uninstall Games for Windows Live and reinstall it. That worked for me.

u need touninstall windows live essientles an then uninstall gfwl then resinstall windows essientels 2012 and reinstall gfwl u cant launch it from steam but u can launch it from gta 4 diretory ill send a link to windwos live essientels hope it works and hope u dont mind swedish clic the ladda ner if its in swedish hope i helped http://windows.microsoft.com/sv-se/windows-live/essentials
