It is a pity, but I play COD MW2 for example, and it works very good.
So it is probably fault GTA IV.
Processor: 4x2,3 Ghz
Ram: 8 GB
And integrated graphics:
All memory: 1690 MB
Dedicated video memory: 64 MB
But GTA IV read only dedicated video memory.
So, I write to support on steam with a request to replace the game.
Because I have a good computer and i paid for these games, but I can`t play.
GTA IV is able to change the amount of memory allocated to the game, in game. The fact that you have an integrated card means that it only has a small amount of real memory, and the rest virtual memory.
GTA is only reading the physical memory, not the virtual therefore it cannot run. Unfortunately, there is not fix for this barring a patch from Rockstar, which i doubt will happen, what with GTA V coming out soon, and also this problem only affecting users with laptops that aren't meant for gaming in the first place.
1.create a text file in the game's main folder named commandline and insert the following
-DX9/high
-stereo
-noswapdelay
-forcer2vb
-monspecaudio
-nonprecache
-renderquality 0
-shadowdensity 0
-texturequality 0
-viewdistance 0
-detailquality 0
-novblank
-norestrictions
-safemode
-availablevidmem 7
-percentvidmem 100
-minspecaudio
-novsync
go to your steam library. right click GTA4. click the Set Launch Options button. type in
-norestrictions -nomemrestrict -noprecache -availablevidmem XXX
(the reason i put XXX is because it will be different for everyone) i have -availabelvidmem 150.0 typed in. the number just multiplies the amount of video memory GTA is reading and get the extra from your pcs ram. so in my case it multiplies my 56 mb. just put a number in, run GTA and go to the options menu and then graphics. at the bottom it will say how much vid mem you have. if its not enough, go back to the Set Launch Options and make the number bigger.
Dude I just said that :(
this works great! does this work for other games? liek shadow of mordor and other new games?
