GTA IV won't load or start up, HELP please?
I have been having a major issue with GTA IV AND GTA: Episodes from Liberty City recently. When the GTA Collection was on a huge sale last weekend, I decided to grab it, thinking it was a super-steal.

EVERY GAME from the collection BESIDES GTA IV and EFLC don't work.

I'll explain the issue, since Rockstar AND Steam support can't even help me.

I press Play, and the game normally loads as it should. It prompts me to enter my Social Club information, and I normally type those in.

Once I press Play again, the game starts to load.

Then all of a sudden, it stops. No errors pop up, the loading just stops. I pressed CTL + ALT + Delete and it even says it's not a running application.

I have restarted my PC, re-installed both games TWICE, and even made a new Social Club account.

I have been pissed off to no end with Steam recently. I am frustrated with the service.

If anyone knows what to do, or any tips, PLEASE help out and let me know.

PS: I have a Windows 7 64-bit, and my PC is fairly new. (Better part of 6 months)

I just checked and in my case GTA 1 works fine. I also played GTA4 on steam. I have windows 7 64 bit too. My PC have about 6 month too. Maybe your firewall is blocking something. Try to put it in gaming mode if it have one. Or hibernate it for some time or disable it completelly then check it again. In many cases firewalls/antiviruses are problem causing programs so check it first.

Just disabling the antivirus program will not work in same cases. You need do disable the "active virus control" option before launch the game. This problem is most common on Bitdefender, here is a tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ro8a2aj5jM

I have also purchased GTA Complete (>1yr ago), GTA IV + Episodes LibertyCity works fine, as does San Andreas. I haven't bothered with the others. I recall having loading issues with GTAIV which resolved once I decided to skip Rockstar Log-in.

Perhaps you should consider NOT logging into Rockstar. The Social Club log-in isn't required to play the game (and neither is signing into Windows/XBox Live). Just hit Cancel / "Play Offline" and the game will still boot up with the Steam Overlay (but the Windows Live Overlay will be disabled).

All these extra "Log-ins" , in addition to the DRM, may be causing some kind of licensing issue that immediately shuts down the game.

In all honesty though, It's really tough to go back playing Vice City or even San Andreas. The graphics just dont compare to GTAIV. But I do understand wanting the option to play a product you purchased and paid for. Good luck.

KillJoy, I have also tried skipping, and the problem persists. It is very frustrating.

I'm having the same problem

Same here it wont load.
There are two things that you should keep in mind. 1) You may not have the latest GFWL. It is required by GTAIV 2) Something is blocking your GFWL, either firewall of antivirus. You have to Troubleshoot by running GFWL directly and sign in.

Most problems are with antivirus.
servers are down....

Playing it Offline doesn't fix it, when I click "play" "play offline" "Cancel" the game pops up with black screen for a few seconds, then it disappears. Now I've downloaded an overclockers edition from somewhere *cough*. And the game actually launched, but the camera started to wobble intensively. Another surprising thing was that I was able to play GTA San Andreas, but not GTA 4 or liberty city.

Nothing pops up for me, the only indicator that it stopped is that I notice the box around my profile image switches from green to blue
