GTA 4 Stuttering and drops to 40 fps and lagging at 40 fps

I have disabled event viewer and the other thing, but getting frame drops and stuttering so its very annoying... Please help me run GTA 4 smooth
my specs are:
AMD FX 8150 8-Core Processor OC to 4.21 GHz
32 GB of Ram
64 Bit OS
Crossfire HD Radeon 7850 OC ( 2 HD 7850) (crossfired)
Windows 7 Ultimate

Looll you fps drops to 40? Big ♥♥♥♥♥♥ deal mine barelly even gets to 40fps and it.s pretty enjoyable O.O

lol Yeah the game will lag no matter how awesome your rig might be. I get lag but the game is always playable (between 30 and 60), I just tune out the stutter after a while, enjoy the game!

if any nvidia users(with half decent cards) are having trouble with gta 4 try using nvidia experience and let it optimize the graphic options....ive never had gta 4 looking so nice at playable framerates

My Nvidia is running optimized with 2 gb vram and no lags. You have to disable some background applications that are running.

This is fault of that lazy b...s in rockstar. Remember that they are making console games and they just throw leftowers for PC after about 6 months and they dont even bother to make it good on pc. This game on PC is bugged as f....k and badly optimised for PC But remember also that on consoles you cannot bet that kind of graphic as on PC So problem may be you setting it to high or this problem is just game. I got sometimes FPS drop in few cutscenes or when there is lots of cars and there is rain too. But it is still playable above 30 FPS. But you didnt mentioned if you have stuttering all the time or only in some situations. I remember when I first played GTA4 few years ago I was having weird stuttering while I was driving car but that stuttering only occured while I was pressing left and right steering when I was going forward game was smooth. I then founded sollution for that in internet. But now as I installed gta4 on steam I didnt have this issue. I dont remember what was causing that but it was fixable. But remember to blame first those lazy bi...s at rockstar :)

Your problem cosmic was windows event log, so every time u pressed a key it stuttered, but i got stuttering even if i dont press anything, but when i get to another district then it stutters, so i think it stutters because it loads the world where i am heading towards :P

Ok :) So you know about that stuttering while key pressed so it is not it... Hmm I dont have other ideas. What I understand is that you got stuttering while going somewhere but if you just look around game is working smoothly. I guess that there is no problem with HD fragmentation or something because that one you would figure out on yourown. Hmm maybe you got slightly damaged HDD or SSD and it cousing problems while loading. But then in most games with open world you would have such problems or at least in 50% of games. I just dont have other ideas sorry.

You have a ♥♥♥♥ load of ram, try installing the game to a ramdisk, that may help with fps a little if you have a slow hard drive and will definitely improve loading times no matter what :P
