Your graphic card?

It says the same thing on mine and won't let me change the resolution and settings from the lowest possible settings. My computer can handle Crysis 3 on highest settings without blinking an eye... *sigh*

My computer specs:

i7-3970x processor
64GB Ram
3x NVidia Titan 6 GB Graphic Cards (Three-way SLI)
1TB SDD primary drives (two 500GB SSD in raid 0)
8TB Secondary drives (two 4TB drives in raid 0)

I also have this problem

Go to your library , right click on gta4 , select properties , pick set launch options , then type -nomemrestrict -norestrictions
OnlyLevelOne 23 kwietnia 2013 o 18:00
I fixed it. Similar to how Sleepy95civic suggested.

1. Open Notepad and create a new text document.
Inside this text document copy and paiste the follow exactly:

-availablevidmem 2.0
-percentvidmem 100
-nomemrestrict
-norestriction
-novblank

2. Then save this document as commandline.txt

3. Place the commandline.txt file in the GTAIV source folder
( C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Grand Theft Auto IV\GTAIV )

4. Play the game!

For future reference, this is a well-known memory bug affecting systems with 2GB or more of VRAM...

This computer is my career. 3D Modeler/Animator, Special Effects Compositor working with 4k and 5k resolution RAW video, plus more. I needed a new system for my Freelancing business and thought the money spent on this machine was actually not that bad considering it's a startup business cost for a business I don't have hardly any overhead in. I'll use this for a year or two and then get another more professional workstation with render farms.

thx for the solution! PITA problem tho, together with the requirement of 3 different accounts: steam, rockstar social club and windows live. Is it just me or is this **** getting out of hand?

Yes. Yes it is getting out of hand... which is why we should all boycott Steam and PC games and get a XBone or PS4... ...Hahahaha I'm sorry. I can't say that with a straight face.

Hey guys, I'm facing a similar problem. I tried both the methods listed above i.e. 'the commandline.txt' option and adding commands to the 'set launch options'. Unfortunately both did not solve the issue. I also deleted the game and re installed - still no joy. Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

PS: I'm new to STEAM.

Same problem with me. I have tried both methods above, as well as this YouTube video method. Still not working.

Try these commands
-availablevidmem 30.0 [or 60.0 change it a bit and see if you get out of the red you must have a .0 at the end of the number]
-nomemrestrict
-norestrictions
