GTA IV Major Bug: Can't Answer Phone

I can't seem to answer my phone. This is really annoying because I can't progress in the story. I recieved the phone from the Roman and he calls me as he's playing the poker game or whatever. Whenever I hit enter the phone simply disappears. Arrow keys continue to make phone beeping noises.

The game thinks that I didn't answer so roman calls again, same thing happens until it simply crashes.

EDIT: The key mappings are still default. I have no trainers or modifications or anything to the game, it is a fresh install from steam.

Well, I had the same issue and wound up here due to a Google search, so I'm sure someone else will too sooner or later. This issue is definitely with the Simple Native Trainer. I was able to successfully resolve the issue by completely uninstalling my game and deleting all save and setting files. After re-installing the game, I beat only the first mission, not the first three, and saved. After that, I reinstalled the SNT with the Trainertbogt.asi file and not the Trainer.asi or the Trainertlad.asi files. I am now able to answer phone calls and use the SNT to my hearts content.

OMG Thank you man Zeus bless your existance i followed your instractions and it worked fine for me but you don't really need to delete native trainer's files (at least i didn't) i just put all of its files in 1 folder and then after finishing the first 2 missions in the game i just put them back on and the calls work fine. Once again thank you man you're the best

i know its been years but IN SNT the first menu about the player you can make the phone sleep. Try disable that setting, If its already disabled then enable then disable it again this all worked for me.

Do you have SImple Native Trainer installed? Try this method if you do have SNT installed.

THIS!!!! THIS!!! this actually worked, I enabled the phones sleep mode for about 10 seconds, then disabled it again and now everything works beautifully..♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thank you.

I fix it with just don't opening the phone before call and it work on second mission where roman give us phone but you still can open it but there only be video editor

tried everything, found out "Skorpro Brake Lights" was the mod effecting phone calls whilst driving. Patch 3 seems to fix it for me
