GTA IV Major Bug: Can't Answer Phone

I can't seem to answer my phone. This is really annoying because I can't progress in the story. I recieved the phone from the Roman and he calls me as he's playing the poker game or whatever. Whenever I hit enter the phone simply disappears. Arrow keys continue to make phone beeping noises.

The game thinks that I didn't answer so roman calls again, same thing happens until it simply crashes.

EDIT: The key mappings are still default. I have no trainers or modifications or anything to the game, it is a fresh install from steam.

ok thats the latest version. Its the first time I have heard about the glitch :)
I am using xbox controller btw.

holy crap man I have had the same problem and I cant fix it I just got to this mission were it requires me to pick up the phone and I cant and I need help so can anyone help me

I am trouble shooting blindly. Do you have dsound.dll in your game directory? If not try to put it there.

i have it in my directory but it still doesn't let me answer my phone.is there another way to fix this problem?

Have any of you guys been able to figure it out? I'm having this problem too and it's really bugging me. I can still progress through the story, but I'm missing out on a lot of important dialogue. :\

To fix this Problem you got to Delete GTA IV Save Games and Delete all Native Trainer files. After that start a new game complete the first 3 missions and then quit game and copy trainer to directory. Happened to me many times... Keep Playing \m/

Dude, this problem is 3 years old to this date. Don't know if it worked or not.
If you have this problem then just try what the message says and see for yourself.
Better make a copy of the game so you dont have to download it again if it doesnt work at all.
