Trouble launching GTA 4 in steam after downgrading
What do I do if my GTA IV won’t launch from steam after downgrading? It’s very strange. Last night it worked after I downgraded and uninstalled the steam version and added my own version from desktop. All I did was right click on the new GTA and enabled steam controller functions and it stopped working. The downgraded version has a few mods but all of them are compatible with each other. (Liberty Rush, Hi-Res textures, 4K roads, HD weapons)

It worked numerous times yesterday after installing one mod at a time. Stopped working eventually, then this morning I decided to reload the game into steam. It was able to launch one time, but after that it stopped. I’ve tried copying all my files from downgrade GTA 4 into the steam apps directory after re-installing the game but that doesn’t work too. I have about 5 other backups in case one mod isn’t working, but none of them want to launch either. It’s a very strange bug considering the game was working fine then randomly decided to crash everytime I startup. It usually just goes to black screen. It originally also prompted me to delete ScriptHookDot.asi & ScriptHookDot.DLL and I did that and it was working for a little bit. Now I’m not sure what the problem is.

If I link the game to either my desktop version or the one in my steamapps directory, neither of them work. I’ve tried launching with PlayGTA.exe, LaunchGTA.exe, and regular GTA.exe and none of them work for either directories. I was so excited to finally play my modded version and as soon as I’m ready to play is when the game decides to crash. It can’t be the mods cause like I said none of my backups without any of the mods besides downgrading will work. (Sidenote) I used downgrader2.2 and checked everything to be installed (scripthook, all trainers, asis, etc) the only thing I declined was steam achievements, online play, discord, and the cursor staying on screen.

I’m at a point where I will literally pay someone to get my game where it needs to be. I really don’t need to add more mods on top of what I already have. Just want my current modded directory to properly launch into Steam.
