Can't sign into Games for Windows Live

My internet is fine but whenever I started GTA 4 I can't seem to sign in to GFWL, it says that there may be a network problem or the Windows Live ID service is unavailable. Any solutions for this? I don't want to lose my 17 hours of progress and start over

Same here. I know Microsoft is in the process of shutting down gfwl. I hope there will be a patch to allow us to continue playing.

There are a lot of reposted solutions including reinstalling GFWL Marketplace, opening ports, making sure UPnP is enabled, setting your NAT type, and other general ideas like that.

I just fixed my issue tonight by uninstalling and reinstalling my wireless network adapter's drivers. I doubt that's your issue, but that's what eneded up being mine.

Is GFWL Marketplace required in order to be able to play online? GTA IV automatically installed Games for Windows LIVE, LIVE Redistributable and Windows Live ID for me. However I also can't sign in to GFWL to grant access to my saved files and play online! Any solutions for me?

Check the network information when you go into games for windows live. It may have selected the wrong adapter, causing it to think you have no internet connection.

Download this http://www.xbox.com/en-US/LIVE/PC/DownloadClient and install it. Restart computer and it should work again.

Only the marketplace was shutdown, afaik there are no plans for them to shut down the service any time soon.

No, you just need the GWFL client, which was linked above.

I had this problem today and i fixed it with new GFWL acc.. i just created new acc with new email and now i can play mp/sp without problem.. hope it will work for you ;)

i just kept pressing sign in it didn't work i waited a bit and then tried again and after a couple tries it signed me in and worked

1. Download the Games For Windows Live Market Place. It needs to be on your computer.
2. Create a new Xbox Live profile.
3. Start GTA4
4. Login to new profile

Voila should be working. My old profile WOULD NOT work despite resetting password and all that jazz but new profile works fine. It allows you to save the game progress in single player which is kinda godamn important.
