Performance issues with GTX 960 4GB SSC?

I just put in the new GPU, and it's worked out fantastic for all the other games I've tried (BF3, BF4, Crysis 2 BFBC2, Titanfall, NFS Shift). The game would run decently on my previous GPU, a 560TI 2GB, I could play it on low-medium with a solid 60+ fps.

The game starts with the new GPU in the lowest settings possible, and when I go to the graphics settings to change them, it says that the GPU is already at "or exceeding" the recommended settings. The memory gauge in game reads not even 400MB of usage, while the card has 10 times that. I cannot change any settings, it reverts them back to the minimum. It plays at a low 800X600 or something like that, almost unplayable basically. Any ideas?

GTA isnt optimized for super rigs its goin to be difficult but you can try adding -norestriction in advacned launching options

and? having overwhelming card and the software not making proper use of it, will rsult in mediocore performance, hence GTA's problem. GTA V will be out soon, just add the -norestrictions and -nomemrestrict commands

Had same issue with GTX745 4GB...

The fix is pinned just "above" : "GTA IV showing video cards with over 2GB as under spec"

Right Click on GTA IV-> Properties -> Set Launch Options

copy and paste : -nomemrestrict -norestrictions

This fixed the problem.

BTW, I am looking to upgrade with the same card (not yet available in UK) any benchmark anywhere to compare with the "base" EGVA GTX960 SSC 2GB?

Would love to know if it worth going for the 4GB instead of the 2GB version...

That -nomemrestrict -norestrictions didn't work for me either but after trying many things for many years to get game to run at a playable rate what worked for me was starting game from the following shortcut with those command switches added.

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Grand Theft Auto IV\GTAIV\LaunchGTAIV.exe" -nomemrestrict -norestrictions -percentvidmem 100

plus creating a file called commandline.txt in the program directory with the following line in it.

-availablevidmem 3.0

Where the 3.0 is the amount of VRAM your GPU has.

SpawnCap, that seemed to work for me. I didn't test if it was all necessary, but it worked! Playable on Ultra at 60fps.

cfiprolive, The in-game benchmark for my card with all settings on Ultra (minus V-Sync) resulted in 65fps average and only 45% video memory usage.

I also don't know if everything is required (like file and other command line options) didn't bother checking and anytime I left out the file creation when other people had problems they said it didn't work for them.

One thing you will find is with this setting you can raise your video settings, but it doesn't like you lowering them. So if you lower it down from ultra too much those red letters will appear again so you will have to raise a few settings until they turn green. Kinda weird, don't know why it does that, but still doesn't matter if you are running everything high to ultra.

Strange, ya mine had the red letters when I first went into options, but after raising settings up they went away/turned green.

GUYS, you will never run good frame rates on gta iv. its called "the worst ported game on the market" my friends runs a titan Z on ultra he gets 30 frames...

just dont bother, you will honestly be saving time, go play another game. check reviews of gta iv.

Your friend must be running the game ten times at once, because I get just over 60 fps on ultra on a $250 card.
