got both of them with gta 4 and i cant download them and it says something about a transaction and windows live wont work, what can i do?

Don't try to load them from the GTA IV in-game menu. Load them from GTA: EFLC in your Steam Library. The in-game option is only if you bought the episodes as DLC from the GFWL Marketplace, which was shut down in August 2013. If you bought it from Steam directly, then EFLC should be an entirely separate game installation that you access directly from the Steam library.

ah so then i guess i didnt get the dlc with gta4? because i did buy it from steam, and if i remmember correctly it did have the dlc included, i guess i cant be entirely sure though. thanks for the quick response!

You should have a recipt in the email address linked to your steam account that tells you which version you bought, EFLC is a seperate download and won't launch from inside GTA4, silly I know.

It may seem silly, but when Rockstar released the first retail GTA4/EFLC bundle for consoles, it came as two separate discs (GTA4 + EFLC) in the same box, so you could play one game without having the other installed. The Steam version mirrors that retail release.

Yes, but pc's have no need for being limited by dvd's. It's silly because it would be as simple as linking to the EFLC directory from gta4.

The purpose of keeping the games separate was to prevent players from having to install both games just to run one. Many gamers with limited drive space appreciate that consideration, especially if they have already played the base game years ago and don't plan to revisit it.

If you wanted to have both games available from the same GTA4 menu, you could have bought the DLC from the Games for Windows - LIVE Marketplace, but that option is no longer available, because Microsoft shut that service down over a year ago.

The game could still open from gta4 while keeping the downloads seperate, also the size wouldnt be much different compared to gta4 without the dlc if both were in one download, most of the files are shared anyway, pretty much all textures are shared and the audio that isn't is not that large. Who ever bought games from GFWL marketplace anyway?

You have them.

At the title screen : on your left, you have Niko Bellic. On your right, you have both DLC characters, Johnny and Luis Lopez.

Then, just click on the desired buttons to launch the desired stuff to play : under Niko, the button to play the main story of GTA4.
Under the 2 others to launch the DLCs.
