You won't even want over 60fps tbh, I cap mine at 60 because that's what fps the game runs best at imo. Once you go over 60/70 the game starts bugging out.

No idea what you're talking about

he clearly has way over 60fps and it runs fine

My understanding is the game is best run at 60 frames or less, cut scene bugs are common at higher frame rates. The game was optimized to run at 30 fps so even 45 frames is overclocked. For best performance turn View and Detail distance down.

Yup. That's why you would cap it at 60fps, the same problem is with GTA V.

My fps isn't capped at 60fps on gta v

So how did he managed to run the game over 60fps, that's what i'm wonderin, cause it's like at 300fps or somethin

The video has a RTX 3070 getting 75 fps and you have a 1070. You can charge Video Mode to highest available, lower view and detail distance Then use high instead of highest settings.

he had 349fps in his game not 75fps

also what do you mean by

"You can charge Video Mode to highest available FPS, lower view and detail distance Then use high instead of highest settings."

in your graphics settings set view and detail distance lower for higher fps. Setting these to 100 makes your system render 100% of the map. In the video, he turns these up and fps drop to less than 75. Vehicle density determines how many cars are on the road, unless you like traffic, turn this down. Enable Steam Overlay, disabling it makes the game stutter.

It's not a matter that you/he can not run at ridiculous framerates; it's that you/he should not.

Framerates over 60 are an issue for, at least, bike mechanics, melee combat, some mission loading screen hangs, boating speed determination in a certain timed TBoGT mission, bug-out as to getting stuck in the garage in another, so on, so on -- and let's certainly not forget the famous last mission glitch which is already below 60 an issue.

You quickly learn of all those when you spent any time on e.g. this forum. The game being designed for the max 30 FPS of PS3/Xbox360, and its engine using frame pacing as a timer source, means it regularly craps all over itself with anything significantly higher.

I.e., sure one can ride around liberty city with an impressive FPS counter in the top-left corner of the screen. It's just that it's useless and dumb fetishism that serves no purpose other than screwing oneself over.
Once you manage to uncap it(try forcing vsync off in nvidia control panel) you need to be aware that many missions(last mission on gta iv, parachute one in TBoGT, all the ones that force you in a bike) will be impossible at high framerate so have a framerate limiter that you can toggle like RTSS handy.

You ll need DXVK to even get close to 140 fps on this game as the normal directx 9 mode runs horrible even on a 13900k and stutters even worse but its possible with DXVK although i dont think all the effort its worth it but if you are up for it, disable night shadows, put shadows to medium and set view and detail distance no higher than 25.

Heres me running the game at 147 fps cap(the lower the cap the less stutter you ll have) on dxvk 2.0 async with a 5600 and a underclocked gtx 1080 https://imgur.com/a/DfLO1ml

Cap it to 30. Just accept it

@TeamWorkOPVolvoleaseNerf
how did you unlock the fps to get 150? how did you do that? you have a 1080 and i have a 1070, there's no way i can't uncap it over 60fps, that's impossible just by that image proof
so how did you do it?
Yujah Jan 21, 2023 @ 1:27am
/me not the boss of TeamWorkOPVolvoleaseNerf (and if I were I'd have had them change that handle, as in, right now) but I so hope they make answering that dependent on you first explaining to the thread-readership why on bloody earth you insist on screwing yourself over...
