Whats New Update For?
Launcher Update or fixes there isnt anything about it

Like always, it is just an update to the RGL/SC installers that Rockstar (for some reason) distributes alongside its individual games; see <SteamLibrary>/steamapps/common/Grand Theft Auto IV/Redistributables/Rockstar-Games-Launcher.exe and ../Social-Club-Setup.exe.

This discussion is had every. single. time. Nothing changed in the game as such. The RGL/SC updates at least once a month or so, sometimes a lot more. Easiest giveaway is all your Rockstar games getting the same update if you have more than one installed. Can also check https://steamdb.info/app/12210/history/ ("public" branch).

Was wondering this too. 200mb update for a 17 year old game, really why even bother?

Only thing I can think off they've updated the Rockstar launcher version ??? but that updates its self because its its own program
There's an announcement about it and 2500+ replies. They removed GFWL and multiplayer as well as some radio stations, but you do get Steam achievements.

Life in a time warp :steamhappy:

Knowing Rockstar they've found something else to remove.

game is literally broken after this, Its kind of ridiculous I run GTA V at 60+ frames with the highest settings, Ready or Not with 150+ frames on Medium settings, but yet when I try to play a game from 2009 aka GTA IV my entire pc locks up, and I have to restart my PC.

Any issue with the actual game that you are experiencing has no relation to "this (update)". Completely literally not a single bit of the game itself has changed. This is moreover the case for (mostly) ALL updates that arrive through Steam in the context of GTA4 -- and/or said same update in that of GTA5, and L.A. Noire, and RDR2, and...

See the accepted answer for information how to check but in any case then, don't waste debugging time on the update as having caused anything. You likely just need the generic FusionFix advise. Please see

We're sick and tired of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ updates for a game this old! we're tired of having to deal with the Rockstar launcher in addition to the steam launcher because some moron at Rockstar decided to make things more complicated instead of simplicity. I'm sick and tired of having to deal with my mods screwed up because some idiot at Rockstar wanted to update this game for whatever reason.
