What are all the updates for?
I keep seeing updates being available for this game, but I thought that would have ended by now. Anyone know what the updates are about?

Just launcher update, 99.99% as always. If you have multiple r*star games and all have same size update, it's launcher.

No. It's Rockstar Games Launcher / Social Club only; the game as such hasn't seen (literally) a single bit change in years now. As #1 said, easiest verification is seeing all your installed Rockstar games get the same update at the same time, or you can verify at https://steamdb.info/app/12210/history/ ("public" branch).

Is the game in more playable state now? I remember game just bricking for me 1/3 into it, and i gave up on it.
Sadly, the "devs released broken, unplayable game" is not valid excuse for refund some 10+ hours into the game.
Someone said only cure for the spaghetti code that ruined the PC version is remake, but since i don't plan to spend again.

I wanna ask if there's still some hope left for GTA IV on pc as of late or nope?

Works fine; you just need to limit FPS; 60 at most, 30 best, and best through FusionFix. See

Best thing is it got introduced at the same time the multiplayer was removed, making sure there was really no point...

That time was when GFWL was removed in 2020, and it was at the time rumored mutiplayer had in fact been ported to RGL and then only for some reason disabled just prior to release again. Makes it potentially slightly less evil to have a mandatory account/launcher for a singleplayer game -- but it remains the fact that there isn't multiplayer currently, and that such is at this time 5 years later unlikely to ever return to this version of GTA4 either.

Don't myself care much for it, but FWIW you can still have it back by downgrading the game. Either via e.g. GTA Connected, or if you still have a functional GFWL-key at the moment even still the original GFWL-multiplayer; see below. Both options are semi-alive, but the "semi" is of course due to only the more dedicated going to the trouble of downgrading.

Another option, and one for which you don't need a key, is GTA Connected. For that see

Last time I tried I did with GTA Connected have to install a specific version of the Visual C++ runtime lest any attempt to connect would error out. Easiest is just making sure you have them all: https://www.techpowerup.com/download/visual-c-redistributable-runtime-package-all-in-one/
