Please help: Can't close down game...
...and therefore also can't reinstall it.

My GTA-IV page says I've been playing for more than 265 hours, but in reality I've been playing less than 15 min because I can't save the game (due to Social Club issues) so there's no real point in playing it.

The current problem: The game is apparently running non-stop whether or not I've launched it. I can see it sitting in my task bar, but all attempts to close it down has failed. Not even shutting down the computer helps. When I log back on the game is still sitting there, apparntly running (it's just a black screen that I can't even open - but I can see it when right clicking on the icon in the task bar).

So I decided to reinstall the whole thing, but guess what: It says I can't delete the game files because the game is still running and 'close the game down first'. - But I can't close the game down!

Do anybody have any suggestions?....Thanks in advance.

Use task manager and search for the GTAIV process.

Or are you on Mac

I hate it when I shut my computer down, and my games keep running. Once I not only unplugged it, but I smashed it to pieces with a hammer, and then burned all of the parts, but GTA IV was STILL running! :/

Please help me, too. This is driving me CRAAAZY!1!!!11!!

Finally solved the problem... at least for now (it may repeat itself when I launch the game again). It was some kind of destroyed something in the C: drive system settings. I repaired it and hope that'll be it.

Thanks for replying. -- I'm not on Mac and will try out your suggestion if the problem reappears.
