How to Get Xbox One Controller To Work With GTA IV With Official Microsoft Drivers? (Windows 8.1)

Im trying to get my xbox one controller to work with steam/GTA IV. I've downloaded the drivers from major nelson's blog installs fine PC recognizes it. Controller lights up and rumble when II plug it in to a USB port. I've uninstalled and re installed the drivers multiple times. Still doesn't work. Somebody said to plug it in and steam will automatically install additional software if needed. But I have no indication that steam has downloaded anything or is even recognizing the controller. Please help thanks in advance.

How do I see if its plugged in as first player? Do you have to have a certain setting on in steam or GTA IV to get it to work? If plug it in the the USB port the controller rumbles lights up but doesn't respond to any inputs. So IDK in devmgmt it its listed as one of the devices. So I know the computer knows what it is it just doesn't work.

just plug it in and play thats all i do. check the game store page and there is a area that tells you what the game is like it has multiplayer and in the same area it will say full controller support
