The Mission "Paper Trail" is impossible

I am trying the follow the heli but it doesn't matter how I go at it. I literally fly directly towards the chopper but he just moves way too fast and gets away every time right from the start of the mission.

And Yes I am aware of the 8, 4, 6, 2 numpad controls. It doesn't matter. The handling of these things is not suitable for flying between buildings without a controller which makes it impossible to follow them.


EDIT: Okay so I beat the mission but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that was annoying I swear to god I never want to fly another heli in this game or I will have an aneurysm.

I was on the same boat (or should I say chopper ? lol). After many failed attempts I got fed up with that bullsh... and just cheated by teleporting to keep up, I waited until the chopper got to the open air above water, I quickly teleported to the nearest land and quickly ascended high enough for Jackob to be able to target it and then I just followed. Yeah, this mission is probably not impossible without cheating, but it's certainly very unforgiving. Add the stupid checkpoint system for mission retry which would be the same as if you never played the mission before, you must start from scratch, through all of the cutscenes again and again. Sure, you can skip the cutscene, but it takes a while to trigger anyway and seeing the same pieces of cutscenes again and again just adds to the frustration level which is already unbearable after many failed attempts. This is the kind of situation where you just tell yourself screw this bullsh.. and resort to cheating, if you consider your real life time and energy valuable at all.

Ah yes, the answer for everything. Bad controls? Nonsense, it's not like Rockstar is infamous for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up their PC ports and making them janky. Clearly it's 100% a skill issue and has nothing to do with the controls.

Lol, controls for helicopter(and in the game in general) are fine, I don't even remember failing or having problems with this mission once(I play with the keyboard)

If it's any use to you, I changed the controls for the helis as follows:

Throttle Up: W
Throttle Down: S
Pitch Forward: Left Shift
Pitch Back: Left Ctrl
Bank Left: A
Bank Right: D
Rotate Left: B
Rotate Right: N

Made it a lot easier for me than with the numpad config.


Nonetheless I'm curious what exactly caused your problem of not being able to keep up with the other heli in this mission. I never had any problems with the helis in this game.
For sharper turns you "just" need to use Bank, Rotate and Pitch simultaneously sometimes.

Because I would go too high up which caused me to be far away it was also twilight so it was too dark to see their heli but too bright to see the lights on it.
